Overview

The new DISK-Fine by Able Brewing is the slimmer sister of the celebrated DISK stainless steel filter, designed for use with the Aerobie AeroPress®. Like the standard DISK, the DISK-Fine is a reusable alternative to paper filters, but features even smaller holes for an even cleaner cup.

From our DISK Fine recipe contest, here is Jesse Gordon's winning recipe:

  1. Inverted
  2. 22g coffee
  3. Medium-fine grind (Finer grind than a pour-over)
  4. 200mL water
  5. Pour 100mL of the water
  6. Stir 3-4 times
  7. Pour remaining 100mL
  8. Steep for 1:00
  9. Quickly flip and press for 15 seconds, stopping when you hear the “hiss”
  10. Add 3-4 ounces of water post-brew

Able Brewing is the creation of some upcoming coffee professionals from Portland, Oregon who are seeking to simplify and improve coffee brewing devices. Their creations aspire for increased sustainability through creating reusable products and clean tasting cups of coffee. To date, the company has created two stainless steel filters. The first filter is the Able Disk, a stainless steel filter produced for the Aeropress. The second is the Able Kone, a stainless filter for Chemex pour over brewers. These stainless coffee filters not only cut down on paper waste, but also remove the paper taste from the brewing equation, producing a clean tasting, full-bodied cup.
