This award-winning grinder from Baratza is a sight for sore eyes.

Baratza's back with another mechanical masterpiece: the Forté. It's their first take on a commercial coffee grinder and it's already one of the most celebrated products of 2013. So what makes the Forté so special?

Versatility. The Forté is available with either steel or ceramic 54mm burrs, offering viable solutions for both brewed coffee and espresso grinding. Cafes that need a small grinder for decaf, single origin espresso, brew bar, or a backup should end their search here. Brewing at home? One of these Fortes is right for you.

Precision. Its muscly interior is operated by a touch-screen interface and 260 stepped adjustments, offering accurate and intuitive control of grind setting and, thereby, coffee extraction and flavor. Time- and weight-based programmable dosing allow for quick, repeatable results, so using the Forté in your shop won't slow you down.

Durability. This baby behemoth is built to last. The Forte's adjustment switches, portafilter holder, and entire enclosure are metal, so it feels sturdier than any of its predecessors — and it'll last longer, too. It's a true commercial-grade machine that won't disappoint in a café setting.

Baratza

Baratza is the company at the forefront of home coffee grinding innovation. Before Baratza entered the coffee manufacturing scene, one was hard pressed to find an affordable burr coffee grinder. Now, home baristas and cafes alike have multiple affordable burr grinders to choose from courtesy of the U.S. based company. Baratza currently offers five different burr grinders: Baratza Maestro Plus, Baratza Virtuoso, Baratza Virtuoso Preciso, Baratza Vario, and the weight based grinding Baratza Vario-W. In addition to this lineup, Baratza has also released a weight based grinding attachment for their grinders, the Baratza Esatto. One popular mantra from the coffee world is: the biggest investment a coffee fan can make is in a high quality grinder. Baratza has made the "investment" part of that coffee truism a lot more attainable.
Baratza Forté Flat Burr Coffee and Espresso Grinder is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've never had better coffee thanks to the Forte I'm a pour over drinker - Hario V-60, Bonavita dripper, Chemex, etc...   And I've always wanted something I could use for each method with ease.  I have a Baratza Maestro, and it's a real trooper, but I've always found that the fines it creates end up clogging my Chemex.   Not with this grinder.  Once I dialed it in, I've gotten consistently great Chemex brews.  My V-60's have been superb, and everything I've put through it has come out remarkably delicious and consistent.   Also, this is super quiet and built extremely well.  I feel like I've upgraded from a Camaro to a Ferrari.   This should be the last grinder I'll ever have to buy.   It's a really great grinder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game changer I bought this so I could make my espresso and my wife could also make her drip coffee without having to make a ton of adjustments or special knowledge. It works perfectly. The recommended settings from Baratza are even perfect! Great pours, this has really changed my coffee-making game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baratza Forte! I should probably be reviewing this in a year or two, but for the month we have had this grinder we have been very pleased. We have a small gourmet coffee bar and this Baratza is the perfect tiny workhorse we needed.

Why is this model much more expensive if it has flat burrs? Aren´t conical burrs better? What do you recommend for grinding for chemex, hario drip....?

Asked by: alwiemer
Conical burrs aren't necessarily better than Flat. There's a lot of debate over the coffee each produces, but one does not clearly benefit over the other in terms of flavor. Conical burrs are nice to have on high-powered espresso grinders because they are more efficient. They can spin slower, keep the internal temperature low because of reduced friction, and still grind faster than a flat burr at the same RPM. Any grinder in the Baratza line will serve you well for pour over brewing, and the Forte is certainly at the top of the list.

i'd like a multipurpose grinder (espresso & pour over) .  thus, is the forte espresso recommended ? i'm just concerned what i'm giving up on the pour over side if its geared to espresso.

Asked by: carral
Hey, Carral. The steel burred Forte (BG) model can easily be calibrated for espresso, and will retain better particle uniformity than the ceramic, which is an important factor in filter coffee. If you can afford the Forte, then fantastic - It's an incredible grinder.

can i use a 220v power with this Baratza Forté?

Asked by: Lydia
Hi, Lydia Baratza grinders sold in the United States are for 110v only. By running it at 220v, you'd risk seriously damaging your machine.
