Overview
The AeroPress® is an easy and versatile way to make great coffee. Made completely of BPA-free plastic, the AeroPress® is virtually indestructable and great for travel. Because of it’s pressure-brewing design, you can can make a standard-ratio cup of coffee, or a concentrated espresso-like brew, and brewing times can take as little as 30-45 seconds! An excellent choice for a quick morning cup or for brewing at the office. The AeroPress® comes standard with paper filters, and we’ve created this pairing with the very impressive Able Disk stainless steel filter! The Disk allows for more of the natural oils of the coffee to pass, making for a more nuanced yet clean cup. The Disk is reusable and made of durable, high quality stainless steel, producing no waste or paper taste. The AeroPress® and Disk make for a wonderful gift for the novice or expert home coffee lover!

Brand
Able Brewing is the creation of some upcoming coffee professionals from Portland, Oregon who are seeking to simplify and improve coffee brewing devices. Their creations aspire for increased sustainability through creating reusable products and clean tasting cups of coffee. To date, the company has created two stainless steel filters. The first filter is the Able Disk, a stainless steel filter produced for the Aeropress. The second is the Able Kone, a stainless filter for Chemex pour over brewers. These stainless coffee filters not only cut down on paper waste, but also remove the paper taste from the brewing equation, producing a clean tasting, full-bodied cup.

It can be difficult in the world of specialty coffee to find a brewer that not only looks fantastic but also produces a fantastic product. Eva Solo has done an exceptional job of combining both elements into the Cafe Solo. The Solo seems a little strange upon first glance for the very reason that it may be the first coffee brewer of its kind: one that is clothed. The designers at Eva Solo had the ingenious idea of using the same material that keeps divers warm (neoprene) and wrapping it around the glass carafe... thus keeping the coffee hot during the 4 minute brewing period.
Not only are its looks something to take seriously, but the Solo's coffee is not to be underestimated. Because of its use of "total immersion" brewing (similar to that of a french press), the grounds are evenly and completely submersed in water. This provides extraction that is difficult to achieve by other methods of brewing. It is advisable, however, that once the 4 minutes of extraction is complete, the coffee should be immediately served or transferred into a thermal pot (we recommend one of the Zojirushi carafes). This will prevent over-extraction from taking place which results in a bitter tasting coffee.

We've looked long and hard for a scale that we can recommend for our avid manual brewing friends.
