Hario

Originally known primarily as a company that produces glass products, Hario (also known as Hario Glass) has been working to produce high quality coffee and tea products since 1921. Over the past few years, Hario has become known as the coffee industry leader in pour over brewing equipment. Hario has helped bring about a coffee renaissance in the U.S. by creating ingeniously designed coffee brewing and grinding products that are being used by cafes and home coffee connoisseurs alike for by-the-cup coffee brewing. The design and methods behind Hario's brewing devices have helped to insure that specialty coffee is being brewed with the craft that it deserves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aesthetic king! I bought this kettle about a month ago and have been totally stoked to have/use it! I'm new to pour over brewing but as far as I can tell from watching friends that have other kettles, the flow rate on the Hario is as good or better than the kettles they were using. Plus it looks and feels AWESOME!  My only regret is that I didn't just buy the 1.3L kettle instead of the 1L kettle. The reason being that I have run out of water on one or two pours when I thought I had filled the kettle plenty full. My wife also drinks tea and it would be nice not to have to use two kettles every morning. (Granted, these later comments are just a bit of a heads up. They're not meant to reflect poorly on the kettle!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong, light, and durable I have owned the Hario Buono for nearly a year and use it every day. At first look and feel, it seems too light to be very durable. However, it stands up well to the test of time! I heat water directly in the kettle on a gas range and have yet to notice wear or damage on the kettle's base. The heat retention is another plus. The flow rate can be a bit fast if you are new to the precision required for pour overs (I was when I got the kettle), but is easy to control with a little practice. A strong, light kettle at a decent price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective and sturdy Our two Buono kettles have been perfect for our small team that operates a coffee truck.  We serve Chemex, V60s, and Aeropresses and the gooseneck spout has been nothing less than reliable for great results.   Many members of our team have learned to make pour-overs with these kettles - their comfortable handles and easy, but secure, lids lend to a very straight-forward lesson! The kettles are also very hardy.  Ours have undergone days of heavy customer traffic, and they've managed to remain unscathed through the stop-and-go traffic between our events.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Kettle for the money The kettle is great, I would recommend this for anyone looking for a good pot for pour over brewing. I especially like the flow control, you only need to pour it once or twice to get a good grip on how it handles. It also keeps the heat well so you don't need to keep reheating it. It also has a solid build. Its hard to find products made to such high standards these days. Some folks complain about the price, but I look at it as an investment because the thing is built like a tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, nimble kettle This kettle does the job for any pour over or other technique that requires a steady accurate flow. It is well priced and easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elegant and simple My favorite two features of any product design. Nothing I hate more than a surfeit of bells and whistles--which generally mean more clutter and less reliability. If you feel the same, this is the kettle for you. We use it for drinking mate at home, Argentinian-style: water in kettle on the stove, kept at a steady correct temp. Also used as intended for slow pour-over coffee. All great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Ketle AWESOME KETTLE. It was my first kettle ever. It drastically improved my pour overs. It's helped me create amazing cups with the controlled pour. It also holds a hefty amount and stays warm. It also looks really nice. Only thing I would say is if the flow was a tad slower, I think it would be PERFECT. Thanks HARIO!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hario V60 Buono Kettle - Cute We purchased because we are getting better at pour over coffee. The day before it arrived our electric kettle broke. After using this a week, we decided not to buy a replacement electric kettle. The smaller size means the water heats up quickly for a cup of tea or coffee. It pours very nicely.

How to clean this kettle, especially that narrow spout? Also what's the best way to measure temp? Is removing lid to insert thermometer the only way? Instant read or candy thermometer?

Asked by: Michele
Because this kettle is stainless steel and the handle is heat resistant, you can actually run it through the dishwasher. If that's not an option you can wash this kettle by hand with soap and water. If you need to clean inside the spout we might recommend finding a small pipe cleaner.

Does this kettle whistle like an average kettle when the water is boiling?

Asked by: brsheff
This kettle does not make any noise when it boils.

I like the way this kettle looks, but is it to strange to serve tea in it, or is it more used for pouring over grinded coffie to get good robust coffie....

Asked by: zandy
The Hario Buono Kettle was designed as a water pouring mechanism for manual brewing, but could certainly be used to serve liquids such as tea!
