Trifecta

We have just seen our first Trifecta demo, and were impressed except for one outcome. The output was cloudy. The metal filter seems to be the culprit. Does this concern anyone contemplating purchase? There were fines in the cup as well. It is a drawback to us. Anyone else?

hey Don, The Trifecta really

hey Don,

The Trifecta really comes out to me as a mix between an aeropress and a French press. The metal filter is what gives it the french press touch which does allow some fine coffee grounds to get through. This is what causes the cloudiness and the sediment (not dissimilar to what you would see from a french press). You can mitigate some of the fines (sediment) from getting through by going with a courser grind. To have the coffee still come out well extracted if you went with a little courser grind you would need to go longer on the steep time and perhaps add more agitation (more often or more time). The good thing about the Trifecta is that it gives you control over all of these settings.

At the end of the day it will come down to what your taste preference is and what your comfortable with. The metal filter will always let some fines through but does preserve the body and natural oils of the coffee really well. I've tasted some great cups of coffee from this machine so I know its capable. I hope this helps!
