This is an upper siphon bowl made of borosilicate glass, a replacement part for the Yama 8 cup Stovetop Siphon.

Yama has specialized in hand-blown glass brewing equipment since 1978 and they've become known for their coffee siphons and cold brew towers. The siphon brewer utilizes a heat source to boil water and push it into an upper brewing chamber, then sucks the coffee down through a cloth filter and back into the bottom chamber. Hands down, it's the most involved and captivating way of making coffee. Similar to the siphon, Yama's cold coffee dripper looks more like lab equipment than a coffee maker. It uses a slow dripping process to brew a strong concoction of coffee that's destined to be served over ice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge... but beautiful! I got this initially thinking that I could interchange it with my other tabletop siphon system...I was mistaken. You can only fit this bad boy on top of the Yama 8 cup stovetop unit. I ended up getting an entire 2nd set of the 8 cup stovetop siphon by Yama because it was actually cheaper to get the set rather than order the individual pieces. My family likes this unit for tea more than anything. It is SO pretty with all of the tea leaves swirling around while the tea is steeping. I find it just too large to make coffee with, but I rarely make more than 4 cups at a time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Replacement Glass OK, Gasket Not So Much I've been using Yama vacuum siphon pots for many years, and occasionally a part gets broken. The glass top is especially fragile at the bottom of the spout where the spring attaches. I'm glad that replacement parts are available, but the gaskets that come with the replacements always seem to leak. I've purchased them from more than one vendor, and they all seem to leak. The solution is to reuse the old gasket. They used to be glued on, which requires some prying to get off, but the latest one was not, so it was easy to install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Memories I was so happy to be able to buy a replacement siphon for my late son's SY-8 coffee maker. We shared many a cup of coffee from his pot while he was alive and it is one of my most cherished mementos of his life and all those special moments at his table. So thank you for simply having it available. Your service was great and I received my part in just two days. I am very pleased!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yama Top Glass Siphon I bought this siphon replacement a while back and was so satisfied, because I was able to brew myself a great cup of coffee. As far as I'm concerned, and in my opinion, the Yama 8 cup siphon coffee pot makes the best coffee I've ever had. If anyone is looking to buy a new coffee pot, this is the one I would recommend. You can find them at Prima Coffee

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Customer Service I ordered the Yama 8 cup top bowl to replace the original that I accidentally broke. Prime Coffee had the best price available at the time I needed the replacement. My order arrived in California from Kentucky in 2 days, I was really impressed! Unfortunately, the Yama box was incorrectly labled by the factory as containing and 8 cup top, when in fact the box held a 5 cup Yama top bowl. I called Prima right away. They immediatley sent out correct 8 cup top that day along with a prepaid return mailing lable so I could return the incorrect part. The correct 8 cup top arrived 2 days later. Throughout the whole process Prima staff were courteous, helpful and professional. I would highly recommend Prima becaouse of their excellent customer care! Thanks Prima!! BTW, anyone that likes to make their coffee with a vacuum pot should buy an Yama 8 cup. They make an excellent pot of coffee, easily and quickly. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only the best coffie made by this type coffee maker!!!!!!!! When I was in the Air Force in Vietnam (now retired) we used this type of coffee maker, I was responsible for making sure there was plenty of coffee available (along with my usual duties), for the Avionics personnel. Coffee made by any other means was totally unacceptable.

I would like to know the diameter of the aperture into the base, and the length of the stem of the funnel, and any additional dimensional specification which would influence compatibility with the base.

Asked by: Esquire
