    Overview

    Watch Video on Making Tampers

Patterned after the Calabash pipe shape, the crimson color and regal lines of this handle inspired the name “Calabash Royal.” The fine grain flows in flame patterns on two parallel sides of the neck converging in swirls of tight birds eye on the other sides. I find that the large, rugged sand spot contributes to the grain pattern and sets the Calabash Royal apart from the rest of the Cavandish series. Beauty aside, this handle fits very well in the hand with a tall thin shape. A rim around the top of the head provides for a comfortable and reliable grip. The satin finish of the Calabash Royal handle is the product of the same Carnauba wax commonly used by pipe makers. A tamper this beautiful and useful will certainly contribute to espresso fit for royalty.
