With over 16 years of experience in Gourmet coffee grinding and brewing equipment, BARATZA sets the standard for home grinders. The Vario is Baratza's entry to the mezzo class of grinders. The mezzo class fills the niche between large professional grinders and home grinders. The Vario's small footprint, full grind range from espresso to press, consistently repeatable micro grind adjustment and quick grinding speed places it at the top of its class. The new 886 model now includes an all-metal portaholder for added stability when dosing directly into your portafilter. For more options in Baratza grinders, see also the Encore, Virtuoso, and Virtuoso Preciso.

  • 54mm ceramic flat burrs manufactured by Mahlkoenig, designed to last twice as long as steel burrs
  • 230 repeatable grind settings
  • Unique "dual cam" grind adjustment features two distinct adjustment levers
  • Baratza exclusive all-metal PortaHolder permits hands free grinding into any Espresso portafilter.
  • The Vario grinds approximately 1.5 grams/second at Espresso and 2.5 grams/second at Press.
  • Three separate timer settings aid in consistency and repeatability.

Baratza

Baratza is the company at the forefront of home coffee grinding innovation. Before Baratza entered the coffee manufacturing scene, one was hard pressed to find an affordable burr coffee grinder. Now, home baristas and cafes alike have multiple affordable burr grinders to choose from courtesy of the U.S. based company. Baratza currently offers five different burr grinders: Baratza Maestro Plus, Baratza Virtuoso, Baratza Virtuoso Preciso, Baratza Vario, and the weight based grinding Baratza Vario-W. In addition to this lineup, Baratza has also released a weight based grinding attachment for their grinders, the Baratza Esatto. One popular mantra from the coffee world is: the biggest investment a coffee fan can make is in a high quality grinder. Baratza has made the "investment" part of that coffee truism a lot more attainable.

Home Brew Upgrade

I bought my Vario around two weeks ago and I'm still working on getting it to where I want it to be. There are a ton of grind settings, so it's been hard to get the perfect grind size. I would not recommend it to someone who is just beginning to brew at home. As for me, I use my grind up to 3 or 4 times daily, and thus I needed something with a great deal of settings and power. Hope to find the perfect grind here soon!

Great grinder. Wonderful service

I purchased this used grinder from Prima. I have been very pleased with the quality of the grinder and also how easy it is to use. After setting it to the grind size desired, there is nothing else to do. Highly recommend!

course to fine grind a problem

I bought this unit a couple weeks ago and have repeated issues with moving from a course grind to a fine grind without having to completely empty the hopper first. Beans seemingly get stuck between the grinding wheels and will not allow the adjustment. Very nice grind if you are going to use the same grind every time, but not good if you are using multiple grinds.
