Mazzer Mini Type A Doserless Espresso Grinder

What does Type A mean?

  • Mazzer makes two types of Mazzer Mini Electronic grinders. Type A has push button controls for dosing that are on top of the dosing chamber. Type B, which we do not currently offer, has a button located between the dosing adjustments below the doser that the barista pushes with the portafilter to dose the coffee.
  • With this Type A model, there are three push-buttons on the top for dosing: Single Dose, Double Dose, and the on-demand grind button.
  • The On-Demand grind button will grind coffee as long as you are holding the button down. The Single and Double Dose buttons are pressed and then grind the programmed dosage that has been set.
  • Dose of Single and Double shots can be set and adjusted via the digital display and controls.

Mazzer

In an age where companies are frequently cutting corners on build quality to save cost, a company like Mazzer is a rarity. Whenever espresso grinders are being discussed, and the focus turns to quality, reliability, and longevity, Mazzer is consistently a standard to which others are held. New companies and designs hit the market, but the question needing to be asked is, "Sure, it works well now, but is it going to last as long as a Mazzer?" Mazzer espresso grinders come in a variety of model variations (doser and electronic) and sizes ranging from the low-volume Mazzer Mini to the super-high volume Mazzer Robur. Feel free to shoot us an e-mail or give us a call if you need help deciding on the right one!

Love this grinder!

After having one of these at an espresso shop I use to run, I knew I had to have one for my own set up. Quite a bit later, I was able to make it a reality and it hasn't disappointed! The simplicity of the grinder and programmable dosing is awesome. It kicks out a consistent grind and is a huge upgrade over my older Rocky grinder. I'd highly recommend it!

Fantastic grinder

This is the best grinder I have ever used in my home. Far and away better and more dedicated than my previous "all-in-one" grinder in a Saeco Excelsis machine. Highly recommended!

mini mazzer electronic

I have had a mini mazzer manual timer for about 10yrs and works great. I decided to pull the trigger on a mini mazzer electronic. I am loving it because i waste less coffee and it actually works better than the manual model i have. Which may be due to the larger burr blades. i can really get a fine grind and and set the grind time, so that i get just what i need for my porta filter. Excellent product. I got a super price from PRIMA because i got a used one, fantastic. thx doug

Wow! Just pulled a great 2 shot Americano.

I just received my Mazzer Mini E type A. I set it up and just outdid the best flavor I've ever gotten out of my Macap M4 doser. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Excellent grinder

Very happy with this grinder. It's sturdy, grinds very evenly and is easy to operate. The controls are easy to use. I have not had to clean it yet, but have been told that I can put a handful of rice into the grinder and run it through to clean the burrs and absorb the oils. The short/small hopper is a perfect fit for under cabinet use.

A joy to use

I've had the Mazer Mini Electronic Doserless A for a week now; it's my first home grinder. It's an amazing piece of equipment and, together with my Rancilio Silva, I'm already getting higher-quality espresso than all but a few coffee shops in town. Everyone's right that the build quality is extremely impressive, and the grinder is just a pleasure to use. Very happy with the purchase thus far.

Top Quality and Reliability - Super Fresh Grind

To start, I've been pulling home espresso for almost 40 years now - I'm very good, though happy to learn anything to improve. Our first Mazzer Mini was a doser at least 12 years old and still going strong - which we will give as a gift to one of our now-espresso-drinking kids (home brewing equipment pays for itself in less than a year, so we think that's a nice economic gift to them). The new unit was purchased as an upgrade to our kit, and it is a beauty too, every bit as solid as ever. Grind is super fresh now, and I can smell the difference in the grind. Easy to adjust the grind time, and the grind is very even. Pulls are beautifully even across the puck, as observed in the bottomless portafilter on our ECM machine (now Rocket). Service from Prima has been outstanding: shipping was quick and phone help was very knowledgeable. The optional small hopper I ordered was damaged in shipment; I sent a photo over, and it was promptly replaced. Thanks, Ken

Essential tool for great espresso

The Mini Doserless is an easy to use, yet powerful grinder that will take your espresso quality to the next, if not highest, level. Once I found the right grind level after a few attempts, it's a simple pop of the toggle switch and you're ready to go. I use the manual button, but you have the option of using a single or double dose which can be adjusted depending on your preference. Effortless, fluffy grinds at your fingertips.

Stepping Up

Started out with a Rancilio Rocky Grinder. When I upgraded my espresso machine to a Rocket I thought it time to upgrade the grinder. I'm so glad I did. What a joy this machine is. So much faster than the Rocky. The coffee comes out smooth and fast and quietly. It takes a little trial and error to get the right grind and dose, but once it's done it's done.

Great investment

I was a little reluctant because of the expense for home use, but it does a perfect job every time. It's already paying for itself. Additionally, it's quiet and doesn't make a mess. Nice consistent grind. Shot extraction quality improved immediately. If you like quality espresso at home, it's worth every penny.

What did you expect - your buying 5 stars

After a solid month of research I took the plunge. Spending over $800 on anything is a little anxiety inducing but in the end what you bought was peace of mind. I have this paired with a Miss Silvia and the two are perfect together. My last grinder was a Baratza and looked like a toy next to this. I was also throwing out about as much coffee grinds as I was drinking. Just couldn't dial it in as well. This mazzer is now dedicated for espresso only. The Baratza, general coffee duty. I can't comment on the coarser settings because of that.

Great grinder straight out of the box.

I can say enough great things about this grinder. I was using a Capresso grinder with my Rocket Celini for years. My first shot with the Mazzer Mini showed me what I was missing out on. The taste is richer/more complex. There's a smoothness I had not experience before. It looks great next to my Celini. My only small complaint is that when the handle with baket in place is put in place resting on the holder, the ground can pill up off center. I could be doing something incorrect though and will review the manual again.

mazzer mini type A

Recently purchased a mazzer mini type A grinder from Prima coffee. Very pleased with prompt delivery time. The grinder is amazingly well built, typical Italian equipment. Have only been using it for a brief time but I can already see the amazing level of adjustment this thing has. People are correct in saying that your coffee grinder is the most important piece of equipment to spend that little bit extra on when purchasing a grinder if you want a top quality cup of espresso. Very pleased with purchase and would highly recommend this grinder to potential buyers.

Overkill? I think not.

You may think your current grinder is good enough, but it isn't, and you will realize the moment you get beautiful powder-soft grinds flowing out of this beast. The Mazzer is amazingly well machined, with precise tolerances that give you a perfect grind right out of the box on default settings.  Based on your bean type/age/humidity you can dial in the perfect shot.  No more near-gnashing of gears to get an acceptable density. Coming off a top-of-the-line well-known household grinder, I can honestly say that this device is not overkill.  You will be doing the world a favor by saving the lives of innocent coffee beans who otherwise would have not gotten the perfect grind and ended up in the disposal (or worst yet, the spittoon).

excellant product great price

This is a superb grinder. I have been using a Rancillio Rocky for 10 years and have always held off the upgrade trigger believing the difference would not be that noticeable. I was wrong. The grind on the MM is so fluffy; a quality the Rocky could never match even on setting 3 or 4. This is truly a quality piece of hardware. Prima is also convenient as they are not east or west coast, but only 2 states away. In the future I will check with Prima prior to other coffee equipment buys as they were very competitive on pricing.
