It's equipped with the basic standard features desired in a good brewing scale such as it's water resistant, it's easy to clean thanks to its removable weigh pan. It has a precision accuracy up to a 10th of a gram. A very premium feel. Usb-c charging and it has a glass top metal dial button and a weighing pan as well as a plastic body. It's also highly responsive to weight and responds faster than most other scales. It has a strong battery life capable of weighing back to back pour overs for 10 hours. And one of my favorite features is that when it hits low battery and is under 10%, it displays the remaining battery level on the screen. So no more scale shutting mid brew. It also works while connected to the charger, which is nice. What really makes it stand out is the various brewing modes that make it comparable to Acaia scales.
The tally is making a name for itself as a next generation coffee brewing scale, thanks to its simple functionality, esthetic, and beautiful display. The scale is a fantastic option for anyone who brews pour over or immersion coffee, but specifically for those who are looking to spend a little bit more like you would on Acai for the added functions.
So enough talk about the brewing functions on the scale., let's see it in action. The scale is easy to navigate through the through three modes by simply pressing the button with the three dots above the knob. At its most simple setting, there's weight mode. This only displays the weight in either grams milliliters lbs or ounces. Next is timer mode. This is what you would get on a basic brewing scale. It shows both the weight and time. And then lastly, there's the Brew Assist Mode. This mode allows you to use your preferred brewing ratio like 1 to 16. So when you add the coffee grounds to the brewer on the scale, it will automatically calculate the target brew weight based on the ratio. So here, no more calculators.
And of course, I will show you how to access the built in game jumpy. To do that, you need to put the scale in brew assist mode, turn the dial as far to the right as you can until it reads 1 to 42 ratio and then press the timer button. And now you have endless fun right at your fingertips.
As for the limitations, we haven't been able to accurately test longevity of the scale at the time of this video. However, it is expected to last two years in a continuous commercial setting and a whole decade for the average user. It's also backed by a two year standard warranty, plus an additional year for three years total with the product registration. Additionally, for some enthusiasts, the price point may be a little steep for a scale.
