Specification sheet:

Baratza is the company at the forefront of home coffee grinding innovation. Before Baratza entered the coffee manufacturing scene, one was hard pressed to find an affordable burr coffee grinder. Now, home baristas and cafes alike have multiple affordable burr grinders to choose from courtesy of the U.S. based company. Baratza currently offers five different burr grinders: Baratza Maestro Plus, Baratza Virtuoso, Baratza Virtuoso Preciso, Baratza Vario, and the weight based grinding Baratza Vario-W. In addition to this lineup, Baratza has also released a weight based grinding attachment for their grinders, the Baratza Esatto. One popular mantra from the coffee world is: the biggest investment a coffee fan can make is in a high quality grinder. Baratza has made the "investment" part of that coffee truism a lot more attainable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Brew Grinder for Home Use I've had the Preciso for about 2 years and it is amazing. Super consistent across the board. Great for anyone who brews a lot of coffee and the occasional espresso.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent grinder! I have only had my grinder for a little while so can't comment on its durability, however the features, design, and function are great. I have only used it for espresso grind and it grinds very fine and evenly. It has a great feature where you can twist the cone to set it for how fine you want the grind and a great side switch that is a timer, you just turn the knob and it grinds for a time and shuts off. This feature allows you to come very close to grinding what you need and no more. I love it!

Debbie Carlson (LA Times) recommends? But? How easy is this Home Grinder to Clean? Thanks!

Asked by: Jack Ekland
We recommend using cleaning tablets, like Full Circle Grinder Cleaner, to clean the grinder about once a week, which requires no disassembly. We recommend cleaning the burrs and burr chamber once every now and then, but it's not too difficult to do so. There are some great resources on Youtube for Baratza disassembly as well.

Do you have a recommended grind setting to start with for the Preciso for use with both a Clever Coffee Dripper and a Chemex? Thanks!

Asked by: pfunk
Grind size is greatly dependent upon your dose. Smaller doses require finer grinds, and larger doses require coarser grinds in order to control the percolation of the water. The Clever, like other full immersion brewers, is flexible because brew time is not dependent upon grind size and pouring technique. The user decides when to end the brew. For that reason you can use literally any grind size. Consider that coarser grinds require more time to extract, and smaller grind sizes require shorter times. It's difficult to communicate grind size and proper brew time because there are so many factors. It's best to experiment!

The top burr spins when grinding beans, I can't lock it into place. is there a schematic available so I can see exactly how it should fit into the bottom burr?
