The Bee House Dripper has become a favorite of many in the coffee world over the last decade. Its ceramic construction is attractive, approachable, and practical for nearly any application. Created for by-the-cup brewing, the Bee House brewer provides a fresher alternative to automated coffee makers.

The Large BeeHouse dripper takes a #2 or #4 cone filter, while its smaller counterpart is compatible only with the #2. Either of these can be selected after adding the dripper to your cart. For more filters, visit our Melitta Coffee Filters listing

Brew Method: Pour Over

Large Beehouse Dripper

Design

The Bee House Dripper employs a wedge design with two bottom drain holes. The dripper also features slightly raised edges along each side of the wedge. In order to help avoid overflowing the cup or decanter being brewed into, Bee House has provided two openings on either side of the base to allow the person brewing to see the brewed coffee level.

Technique & Brewing Parameters

We recommend pouring just enough water to wet the coffee grounds and letting it sit for 30-45 seconds or until the coffee bloom deflates. At this point begin pouring slowly in concentric circles until the water volume is near the top, slow the pour rate and keep the dripper full until the desired water volume has been poured. For beginning brewing parameters we recommend 36-42 grams of coffee (medium grind), 600-700 mL of water, 200-205° F water , and a 3:00-3:30 total brew time.

Advantage

The design of the Bee House dripper is quite forgiving and allows for a tasty, properly-extracted cup without an exceedingly refined pouring technique. This has led many high-volume shop owners to choose the Bee House dripper. Most conveniently, its filters are commonly carried at neighborhood grocery stores.

Bee House

Bee House is the manufacturer of the Bee House coffee dripper. This coffee dripper was one of the first manual brewing devices to gain wide acceptance due to its relatively quick brews and beautiful ceramic composition. The Bee House pour over dripper embodies the elegance and craft of by the cup brewing.
Bee House Ceramic Coffee Dripper is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Graceful and non-reactive Great flavor for pour-over coffee maker, very simple and light. I was concerned about managing a porcelain cone, but it makes me focus on my handiwork first thing in the morning. Works best with #4 cone (I got the large one), but I can also cram the ruffled filters in it. I would like a longer handle on it, as I have big hands, but just a minor recommendation. Have a bowl or plate ready to set the dripper on after you finish brewing. I heat up only a cup-full of water at a time, so don't have to worry about overflowing the cup. So much easier to clean up than a fussy automatic brewer. Adds to the Zen-like experience, hah!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pretty and practical. This drip per makes very nice coffee! I am not an "expert", and I know I am not doing it the precise and proper way (I just put in my coffee gounds (NOT hand-milled, but ground at the grocery store) and pour in the hot water.). I am especially happy that this coffee dripper has the cut-outs to see how much coffee is in the cup beneath. This is a very important feature in my opinion. My last coffee dripper had this feature also, but was plastic. I wanted a porcelain one so I was happy to pass the old one on to a friend who actually preferred the plastic (for travel purposes). I'm very happy with my purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick, delicious coffee I had been using another single cup drip coffee product for many years, but thought it was time to try another brand. I'm so glad I did! The Bee House Dripper makes a more flavorful cup of coffee in less time. I wish I had changed brands long ago.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent cup a "joe" Have not made drip coffee for years. Someone gave me a lb of finely ground coffee, a brand that they routinely use. So, I looked over your site, picked the Bee, bought it and am now in the drip "business" again. Once or twice a day I make myself a delicious cup which is depriving some of my local coffee houses of my patronage, but I still spend a bunch of time in those places anyway. The Bee is doing everything I'd hoped for. It's easy to use, seems to hold the water in the ground beans for an optimal amount of time, and when the process is done I have a full-bodied, flavorful cup, not too strong, not weak, just about right. I've experimented with the amount of coffee that I put in the Melitta filter and have got that down pat. So, all in all, I'm happy with my purchase. Now I just need to find a carafe that the Bee will sit on (it does not sit on some of my mugs where the mouth of the mug is a little wide) and I can then make two cups at a time. Oh, and btw, my main guest at home, a very old friend who likes her cup every day, thinks that the coffee I make her with the Bee is very smooth and flavorful. Need I say more? Thanks, people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a simple, single cup of pourover Bought the #2 Bee House dripper 2 weeks ago. Used it multiple times, and love that it makes the perfect amount for just my morning cup of coffee. Not as finicky as I've heard and read some other pourover methods can be, and much more portable and easier to store than say a Chemex decanter. Definitely wouldn't be big enough for any more than 1 person to use unless you of course refilled the grinds, but for me, this is perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A big disappointment... I looked forward to being able to brew a cup of coffee that I could enjoy. What I wound up with was some of the worst tasting coffee I have ever had. I tried several different times with various amounts of coffee and water from different sources and it still tasted awful. I would have returned it, but I threw out the packaging that it came in. I was also disappointed that there was no instructions or any sort of literature with the coffee dripper. I'm sorry to have to write such a review, but I am really disappointed with the product...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not user friendly I purchased this item last month and I am a bit disappointed. The handle is hard to hold. The part that sits on your coffee mug limits the type of coffee mug you can use, and the shape of the base is more oval than round. I prefer the Cilio porcelain coffee dripper, it is less expensive and works better for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I've been looking for For years, no kidding, I was looking for a single cup coffee maker. I remember a friend years ago who had a plastic single cup dripper - and I imagined that was the only kind available. So I had thought all these years that that was the only kind I would ever find. BUT, your ceramic drip coffee maker is so much better! Just what I wanted!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smaller than expected I was very surprised when I opened the box and saw how "small" this dripper was. If I had a "do over" I would get the next largest size. That being said, this dripper works so much better and quicker than my current plastic #2 Melita dripper. A #2 coffee filter sticks up quite a bit from the top of the drip, but still works very well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Well made but poor design While the coffee dripper is well made, it does have a handle that is not well designed. It's very hard to hold (not big enough to grip well) and slippery. However when you reach down to hold if by the sides, they can be pretty hot. I half expect that it will slip one of these days and break.

Are the glazes used on the filters "food safe"? Does the manufacturer guaratee food safety? Do the glazes contain lead or cadmium? Thank you.

Asked by: SteveB
Steve, I'm going to email you a document with data on this. In short, 6x samples of Beehouse drippers were found to have less than 0.01ppm of both Lead and Cadmium.

If I buy the small bee house dripper, can I place it on the coffee cup while brewing? Or is it advisable to buy a container to brew into?

Asked by: djacob2
You could certainly brew right into a cup! Just make sure your mug is compatible with the dimensions of the small Bee House Dripper's base: 4" long x 3" wide

I bought the Bee from you. Love the coffee it makes in a single cup. Is there a multicup flask (like Chemex glass vessel) that the Bee will fit on so I can make more than one cup at a time?

Asked by: JayLewis
The largest server we currently sell is the Hario 1000ml. That will accommodate 2-3 large cups of coffee.
