Part of the allure of manual coffee brewing lies in the empowerment it grants the user, offering complete mastery over every brewing variable and allowing for tailored approaches to different coffee varieties. Surrendering this control to an automated system is often seen as a concession for the sake of convenience, which is often true. However, the Breville Precision Brewer distinguishes itself by its unique ability to faithfully replicate the manual brewing process. This is made possible through an array of precision variable controls, encompassing temperature, pre-infusion, flow rate, contact time, and even basket shape. More than any other automatic coffee maker on the market, the Breville Precision Brewer emulates the experience of a traditional pour over dripper and gooseneck pouring kettle.
Cone or Flat
In partnership with the UC Davis Coffee Center, Breville funded extensive research into the qualitative differences between cone and flat-bottom shaped drippers, ultimately determining that each shape promotes a unique flavor profile suited to different preferences and different coffees. With this research in mind, Breville offers both a flat-bottom and cone shape basket with the Precision Brewer, further allowing the user to dial-in to their preferred taste. What’s more, the cone dripper is made of mesh and can be used with or without paper filters.
One and Done
Out of the box, the Breville Precision Brewer is equipped with 5 factory presets, including Fast, Strong, Iced, Cold Brew, and even a ‘Gold’ profile to meet the requirements of the Specialty Coffee Association’s Gold Cup Standard. By simply modulating your grind size and selecting a desired program, the Breville Precision Brewer can tackle virtually any type of coffee preparation automatically. A 6th program called ‘MyBrew’ is there for you to design your ideal extraction for any hot or cold brew preference you choose.
