The Eva Solo is simple to use, a snap to clean, and sexy in appearance. But most important, it makes a smooth, delicious cup of coffee.

My Favorite Coffee Brewer!

The Eva Cafe Solo has replaced my French press pot for good! The plastic spoon, zippered neoprene cover and gasket lid all protect against heat loss, ensuring a nice hot brew, even after the 4-minute brewing time. The permanent metal filter is reusable and therefore eco-friendly, and catches more grounds than my press pot ever did. Plus, no special grind is required—normal automatic drip grind works great! The clever lid allows you to pour directly from the spout without losing additional heat. I usually pour the first cup to drink and immediately pour the rest in a thermos for optimal heat retention. The coffee is wonderfully rich and consistently perfect!

Great consistent coffee

Pairs great with the Mazzer Mini. Easily makes coffee while I get my stuff ready for work in the morning. Produces a cup that is unique from other methods I have tried, but shares characteristics with french press and Chemex. Makes anywhere from a cup to a thermos full. A little expensive for what it is, but I would probably buy again.

simple, elegant, coffee

This coffee maker is super easy to use, for anyone who wants great coffee but doesn't have a gooseneck kettle, I would definitely recommend this over any french press I've ever tried. I followed Prima's recommended settings, using a 26/40 grind setting on my Baratza Encore, and its yielded an amazing, complex cup with full body and a nice amount of oils.

perfect for me

I have a IL Eva Solo, but I am the only coffee drinker in home, so the small Eva is perfect for me and my two cups of coffee in the morning. Very clean taste. I useda felt pen to mark the outside for the exact 16 oz plus grind three coffee measure of beans and I am content. The price is still about 10-15 dollars to high though, and I waited for the holiday discount before buying it

A revelation

I'll be honest, after the first attempt on the Eva Solo, I almost packed it back in the box and sent it back. It was that bad. I know now the grind was way too fine and there were probably other problems. But from the second batch on, it has been giving me spectacular cups. The sweetness and juiciness from the Eva Solo is tremendous. It has quickly become my favorite brewing device. Not too tough to clean. Doesn't need constant attention during the brew. Looks nice. Negatives? Uh, ok. There is a bit of a learning curve to getting the neoprene jacket on. There is a decent amount of sediment that may surprise any guests you have that weren't expecting it. I try to compost as much as I can, but there is a good chunk of grounds after each batch that get rinsed down the disposal. And it is a longer brew time than almost any other method. Conclusion: I really don't mind the negatives because what goes in the cup is so delicious. I'm going to experiment with pouring through a paper filter to see if I can remove some of the sediment without affecting the taste. But overall, I just love this thing. Final note: I only make enough for what I am drinking immediately so I can't comment on how it would taste if kept in the brewer beyond the 4 minute mark. The instructions say you can do that, but I haven't tried it and don't plan on it.

A great cup of coffee

This brewing method makes a great cup of coffee when compared to other home, pour-over methods. It is also great with older beans.

Solo and first Prima order

This was my first experience ordering from Prima and will order again. My purchase was hassle free, the lowest price available and the Solo arrived early. Thank you. We have been brewing an array of coffees (Intelligentsia, Dark Matter, New Harvest and home roasted beans) with the Solo for two weeks and have found that it yields great results. More than pretty, the device's design is sublime and intuitive. Kudos to them. Again, my experience has been limited to two weeks. How the Solo performs over time is to be experienced.

Elegant full-immersion brewer

If you like metal-filtered coffee and are game for a bit of a splurge, the Eva Solo is a brewer worth a serious look. Here the emphasis is on minimal agitation (pouring through the filter after the steep instead of pressing); do things right and you'll end up with almost a cupping-style brew. Great for preserving delicate aromatics. Fines are present but minimal, assuming your grinder is decent. In terms of size, when pushed to the limit this 0.6-L model can handle coffee for two if both of you like small cups. Overall, though, I'd recommend stepping up to the 1.0-L Solo in such situations. Clean-up isn't terrible at all but does pretty much require a bottle brush or similar. I'm docking 1 star for price and hard-to-find replacement parts, but I do fully recommend the Eva Solo.
