Compact Yet Capable

Everything about the Anna, except the quality, is a little smaller than many other home espresso machines, especially those in the premium category. It weighs a mere 16 pounds and stands at just 13-inches high, 10-inches wide, and 9-inches deep, yet it has an enormous 2.7-liter water reservoir (larger than tanks on machines 10x its price) that is roomy enough for an optional water softening filter cartridge. In addition, the Anna has all the features of a premium machine: a brass boiler above the grouphead (for temperature stability), a three-way solenoid valve, and—surprising for the machine's size—a dual-purpose steam wand that can steam milk or dispense hot water for teas, americanos, and cleaning.

A Lot of Heat in a Little Package

The Anna's compact 250ml brass boiler is fitted with a high-wattage heating element that has two effects: first, it greatly reduces the time it takes to heat water entering the boiler to brewing (~205F) temperature on start-up and on re-filling; and second, it greatly reduces the time it takes to heat the water from brewing to steam (~240F) temperature when you are making cappuccinos, lattes, and other milk-based drinks. The steam wand is special, too, because it works for both steaming and, with the touch of two buttons, for dispensing hot water; and an aeration sleeve is included to assist you with steaming milk to café-quality texture. Simply put, Lelit packed this small but mighty machine with all the necessities of a premium espresso machine without sacrificing space.

Customize As Needed

The Anna comes with a 57mm double-spouted portafilter and a basket for every kind of espresso: a single (7g), a double (14g), and even an E.S.E. pod filter for total ease. To keep the cost down, few accessories are included in the package, but luckily the Anna's 57mm basket is relatively common, so upgrades are available on the market, such as this 57mm metal tamper and Lelit's own 57mm naked portafilter. For less than the cost of most premium machines on the market, you can have the Anna in addition to a customized accessories package that fits your aesthetic.
