Ditting 807 Maintenance | Zero Calibration

This is John from Prima Coffee. And today we're going to talk about the adjustment gear and setting up zero calibration on the Ditting 807 grinder.

First thing we're going to do is we're going to remove the knob. I have this 3mm Allen Key right here. And what I'm going to do is just roll the knob to the coarsest position and then I'm going to find the set, screw the Allen set screw here and I'm going to loosen it and then I'm going to remove the knob. Now with the knob out, I'm going to remove the gear. Just to show you what it looks like and just spins all the way out, just thread it and it's basically a cone. And the idea is that as the cone goes into the grinder, the circumference here expands and then pushes the rotational carrier, making the grind finer as you go in and bringing the rotational gear down, making it more coarse as you go out.

I'm going to put it back in and now I'm going to go all the way in until I cannot turn it anymore. That should be pushing the burrs together. So what I’m going to do is back that off a little bit. Now, what we're going to do is we're going to turn the grinder on and I'm going to move this gear until I hear a distinct chirping sound and then back it off slightly. That's when we know the burrs have touched. So if I back it off, I know we're at the finest point we can be before the burrs touch. I'm going to go ahead and turn it off, and then I'm going to take our adjustment knob and I'm going to put it back on. Now we want to put it on so that the zero one, the finest setting is what we see up here in the indicator.

Okay. All right. I'm going to go ahead and tighten the screw and then I'm going to back off a little bit, turn the grinder on and come back to zero Point. What I'm doing here is I'm checking to make sure that after we reinstall the knob, that we aren't pushing too close because I don't want the burrs to touch while the grinder is operating. So there we've set our zero point so zero one is now the finest point. We should be able to go very fine and then I can turn it all the way to 12 and get our 1200 micron range. Okay, so that's how you set up zero calibration on the Ditting 807 Grinder. I'm John with Prima Coffee. Thanks for watching.
