Hiroia's Jimmy scale doesn't settle with just one trick: alongside its magnetic touch display, it also has four built-in brewing modes, a 2 kg total capacity, an internal rechargeable battery, and a Bluetooth connection to pair up with its companion app. With a size that's practical for both manual brewing and espresso, the Jimmy scale is quite a versatile brewing tool.

With the Jimmy's innovative display, you can brew much more flexibly. The magnetic base allows the display to attach to a variety of surfaces, such as the front panel of your espresso machine, a kettle, or whatever you might have at hand. It can also lay flat with the display facing straight up or forward, so you can simply set it where you like to get the best viewing angle and access to the touch-sensitive buttons. Once you're done brewing, just click it back onto the scale to charge. Jimmy's internal battery has about a 10-15 hour life, and can be recharged via the included micro-USB cable.

Awesome Scale

I was on the fence between this scale and the Acaia and decided on the Jimmy based on the detachable faceplate. I had to download new firmware on the scale from the App. The App works very well along with the scale.

Save your money, buy a cheaper scale.

I bought this scale from Prima several months ago. My brewista scale, due to it's lack of true water resistance, became hard to read after several years of use. I was looking at the Acacia Lunar scale and saw this. I thought the two piece design would be easier to use. The good: seems to be waterproof. The scale is accurate. The display is easy to read. The bad: EXPENSIVE. The battery needs to be recharged weekly. The auto tare when you turn it on must have an issue. Almost every time I turn it on, the scale will not go past the Hiroia screen. I have to turn it off and back on again to get it to work. The display is magnetically attached to the front of the scale. Sounds cool, right? I hoped I could attach the display to my Linea and keep it there except when it was time to charge. Guess what. You can't do that. Every time you turn it on it has to attached to the base. Also, it fits loosely to the base. If you want to keep the display on the scale, you will have to be very careful because you may knock it off. The scale promises an auto start when espresso begins to drop. As most people know, the first few grams of espresso comes in drops and is slow. Well, the Hiroia doesn't register that first drop, or even the first few. So, this feature doesn't really measure the entire shot time. I would advise a cheaper option. If I had to do all over again, I would look at the Lunar scale since it is cheaper. But, I think the Brewista scale is just as good at a fraction of the price of the Jimmy or the Lunar. Maybe you will have to replace the Brewista more often, but you can get 3 or 4 Brewista scales for the cost of one Jimmy.
