We are very pleased with

We are very pleased with our Bellman Stovetop Steamer. Every morning, we heat it on our ceramic cooktop (it takes about 14 minutes) while getting ready in the morning for work. We love that it’s sturdy and well-made with stainless steel material, comes with clear instructions, and the resulting steamed milk with microfoam makes our chai lattes delicious! We also like that we can now consume organic steamed milk, rather than the conventional stuff offered down the street at Starbucks and Coffeebean. Thank you for carrying this product!

Bellman Stovetop Steamer

C. Ten years ago I saw a similar Italian stove top steamer in a kitchen store in Washington, DC. Regretted later that I had not purchased it. When I had to get my Pavone Espresso Machine re-paired, i looked again for a milk frother. Tried the Nespresso and thought it was a waste of money. Finally saw this one on your Web site. It works quite well and now that I am in a smaller kitchen, it will replace my Pavone Europicola.

Great

The steamer is great. I used it to make latte with my illy capsule machine. It does need practice for a few times before you could master it.

Made in Italy stainless steel, stovetop steamer

I am satisfied with my new steamer. The price was comparable to others on the market maybe a little better and a good thing was that the shipping was paid. The product arrived quickly was just what I expected and works really well. I do wish they'd prompted me to order extra gaskets for it because these things last many years and the gaskets eventually need replacing, by that time you've lost track of where you even got it.

Perfect way to quickly steam milk!

I bought this to pair with my Nespresso machine. I really wanted a full espresso machine with a built in steamer, but it costs way too much to get a quality one. I thought I would be stuck with a foamer for my milk when I really wanted to steam my milk. And then I discovered this stovetop steamer. There was a bit of a learning curve because the instructions that come with the steamer are very confusing and actually say that the steam should be ready in 3 - 5 minutes. That is a complete lie! On a gas stove, set to medium (so I don’t damage the handle with the flames), it takes 10 minutes. It then produces a substantial amount of steam - enough to froth milk for multiple drinks. I am still trying to perfect my frothing skills to be as good as a coffeeshop barista, so my coffee drinks aren’t perfect, but it is entirely my fault not the steamer. Clean up is easy - simply use a cloth to clean the steam arm and dismantle/empty the water when it is cool. My only complaint (and it hasn’t affected how the machine works) is that the video on Prima Coffee says to twist the top and seal it until no orange gasket is showing. My orange gasket never shows so I worry that it is defective/not as thick as it should be and perhaps making it harder for me to fully seal the unit to maximize pressure. Because it hasn’t affected my usage of the unit at this point, I haven’t looked into it; however, I did want to note in my review that it is slightly different than the one in the video. Due to the awful instructions, it also made me worry that perhaps I was assembling it incorrectly although I couldn’t figure out any other way to put it together. Other than the gasket issue (non-issue), this steamer is solidly built - mostly metal with bakelite for the handle and the steam dial and the twist top. I am giving this steamer 5 stars despite the absolutely awful directions included with it.

Does what it's supposed to do.

Still having trouble with getting proper micro foam, but I believe that's more my fault than the steamer's.

This is the microfoam I was looking for

I am an espresso snob who has been living a block away from one of the predominant nationwide Third Wave coffee roasters for more than 5 years, getting a daily cortado. I finally decided I needed to be able to replicate my go to espresso drink in the event that I moved away, especially if that involved living on a boat, where a standard countertop espresso machine wouldn't work. I still haven't sorted out the espresso half of the equation, but this stovetop steamer is as good as all of the baristas say, and I don't have the training they do. I read http://coffeegeek.com/guides/frothingguide/steamguide, and ended up with microfoam on the first try. The second try wasn't as lucky, but I am a week in, and totally satisfied with my ability to steam milk without scalding it (my pet peeve), and usually getting the microfoam I want. I agree that you only need to fill the steamer with an inch of water for a couple of drinks, rather than to the top as instructed by the manufacturer, which means it heats up pretty quickly. I start it going at the beginning of the process, and by the time I get through my current (slow) espresso process, it's ready to go.

Amazing Steamer for latte art!

I bought this steamer to be able to make proper flat whites and lattes at home and the quality of the steamed milk that it can produce drastically exceeded my expectations. It is also incredibly consistent once I figured out the proper angle and placement of the wand. I am producing bubble free steamed milk perfect for latte art every time! Instead of following the directions exactly, I use hot water to start (since any dissolved solids in the water will not come out in the steam anyway) and only fill up the steamer less than 1/3 of the way. This still gives me enough steam for around 10 lattes or so while only taking 4-5 minutes to reach pressure (as opposed to 15 minutes with cold water filled higher). This steamer is also built like a tank. It's a very thick gauge steel construction and the gaskets are made of durable silicone (so I expect them to last a while too). Replacement gaskets are available should you need them at some point however.

Love my homemade barista coffee!

I've been spending a lot of money at boutique coffee shops because I really enjoy a well made Almond Flat White. This has helped me save some money by making it at home. I haven't gotten to to the point where I can make art with my almond milk...but it's pretty close. Love this item!

Exactly what we wanted!

I worked as a barista for two years and have missed having a milk steamer ever since I left the job. This stovetop steamer is the perfect at home, compact solution! I feel like I can have café quality drinks every day. It does take a little while to heat up and definitely doesn't steam milk as fast as a commercial steamer, but if you go into it expecting that then you will be fully satisfied. Since it does take longer a temperature gauge is very helpful in ensuring your milk has reached optimum temperature. It's probably a little overpriced for what it is, but we couldn't find any other options besides buying a full espresso machine, so we decided it was worth it.

Great steamer

Had this steamer about a month now, I love it. Takes a littl e practice to get used to. On an electric stove it can take a while (20mins or so) to heat up, but on an induction cook top it takes half the time. It has plenty of power and steaming capability.

Great Travel Frother so far

I've only had the Bellman a few weeks, but it really can froth milk well. I've had an espresso machine for 15 years and am getting close to the pros in latte are. This little Bellman has a frothing tip with hole sizes perfect for 4-5oz of milk in a 12oz pitcher. Now, hopefully I can get it through security at the airport. Shouldn't be a problem though.

I bought this for my husband who loves latte's but not their pricetag. I couldn't find it in Canada but Prima had them and I was able to purchase it from them and have it shipped here. Works like a charm

I had an 10 plus year old version of this steamer that was not working very well. The new one has a couple of improvements that make it perform better than ever. The valve is more sensitive, and the wand angles away from the body to make access easier. It is a well built, great product.

Easy for a beginner

I was able to figure out how to use this very quickly. It produces great foam. I'm still trying to figure out how to produce more heat and less foam, actually, but that is due more to me than to the steamer, I'm sure. I love this thing and I use it all the time.

Best milk steamer on the market

This is the second one we bought as a gift. The first one we have been using for half a year now and cannot be happier. We do have gas stove and we put our steamer on the burner as soon as we wake up. Then it is ready by the time of breakfast. Cleaning is very easy since it does not have any wires and you can put the nozzle under the stream of water to wash the outside. Then we put it back on the stove and bring it back to pressure, turn off the burner and let all the steam come out cleaning the nozzle inside. We also own an electric Nespresso Aeroccino3 3594 frother. That one is great for making one cup of latte. If you have more than one person at the table Bellman Stovetop Steamer is irreplaceable.

Works just as described.

I bought this during my lengthy research for an espresso maker. It seems like any expensive machine often must be repaired, or descaled, or other maintenance. One review somewhere pointed to doing things manually, manual espresso maker, and stovetop steam maker. It worked today on my first try. I only filled it half-way with pre-boiled water, and it took under 10 min to get to steam level. I used my 12oz Stainless Steel Turkish Warmer, but next time will use my 6 oz to heat the milk for one cappuccino. Follow the instructions and be careful, this is dangerous if not used properly.

It's everything I've always wanted!

I've been a barista at a couple different independent coffee shops, and loved having access to a machine to steam milk for my beloved tea lattes. I really don't drink coffee but once in a blue moon, but I love my tea lattes. Microwaving my milk isn't the same. I actually didn't know that stovetop steamers existed, but I just decided to google and see and this awesome thing came up. I had to wait a couple of months for it to come back into stock, but it's super worth it. It takes a little finagling, but once you get the hang of it you can create microfoam rivaling that of a traditional espresso machine. I use it nearly every day for a London Fog or jasmine green milk tea. Also, it seems really well made and like it'll last for a long time, so fingers crossed!

Love my Bellman

After the safety valve of my old Bellman went belly up, i was lost in a desert without my steamed milk. The folks at Bellman were supposed to call me but never did which left me feeling frustrated and angry that I wasted 2 weeks waiting for their call. I finally gave up, and ordered a new valve, not sure it was going to fit. But it did! And now I'm again happy as a clam! I survived without my Bellman for nearly a month! Oddly enough though, i'm not sure about the rubber gasket...I could probably crank that safety valve down tight but I'm afraid the valve, which looks somewhat flimsy to me, will spread out paper thin and be ineffective, if not break. So the safety valve isn't exactly tight on the container, but hey, i have steamed milk and it seems to be holding up.

Makes excellent microfoam and with great ease and speed !

I received the Bellman Stovetop Steamer several weeks ago (as replacement for my Bellman Cappuccino CX-25 P model lost during moving, but used for a few years). The CX-25 P model made excellent faux espresso and microfoam even on an electric stove. Comparatively, the Bellman Stovetop Steamer, used on a gas stove, microfoams even more quickly and easily (as all pressure is dedicated to frothing milk and gas stoves deliver even stronger results than electric stoves). It is very simple to produce a smooth, rich, velvety microfoam, that pours and looks like a smooth vanilla milkshake with no air bubbles present, in well under a minute after inserting the wand into the milk (closer to 20 or 30 seconds). It is a joy to use and essential for making any true milk-based espresso drink. I think inexperienced persons could learn to make a beautiful microfoam with just a little practice, after first becoming well-informed on methods/foaming techniques needed with this item. I've experimented using a steam wand on a cheap espresso maker (waiting for my shipment) and the Bellman far exceeds it in every way (with true microfoam being more difficult to make on the former). It appears very well made and sturdy. I am completely satisfied with the product, manufacturer and helpful Prima representatives. I experienced delays in shipment time (with both models) due to the manufacturer, but it was well worth the wait to receive these high quality and impressive items.

What a find!

You know when you take the time to write a review you found something dynamic. All I needed/wanted was a milk steamer for hot milk and great foam. Found it. The Bellman produces steam pressure similar to the $5000 espresso machines I used as a former Barista! Honestly. The instructions say the Bellman takes 10-12 minutes to heat, however, I found it to much faster on my gas stove (3-4 minutes). I have finally been able to e-cycle my cheap, half working espresso machine. I plan to buy these as Birthday and Christmas gifts. Thanks for a well designed and incredibly easy to use piece of equipment!

Great product

This is a great machine. I've been trying desperately to create a good latte at home for the last couple months and have been getting frustrated. I started off with a french press. Then bought a cheap espresso machine. Then I bought a starbucks milk frother. All of them stunk. Then I bought a Francis Francis x7.1, which makes great espresso, but the pannarello steam wand didn't work as well as I'd like. So finally I bought this steamer as my last attempt, and thankfully it finally provides the microfoam I've been going for all this time and it's easy to achieve. I nailed it on my first attempt. (obviously the right equipment makes all the difference in the world) If you're like me, and are trying to get true microfoam without spending $2000 on an espresso machine, this is what you're looking for. Very high quality and great results. Plus, it looks like it will out live me. It's clearly well constructed. Very pleased

Bought this for my Son; I had a similar model which is no longer made. This one works just as I had hoped; makes excellent microfoam. The pressure is much greater than on most home expresso makers (or, at least, much greater than my Silvia Rancilio and an Expobar Brewtus) and it foams milk much faster and easier.

As a previous barista working with craft coffee machines I love it. Simple to use, quality output and consistentcy in steam pressure and heat. The only down side is the time it takes to hear up and the task of properly cooling it. I love it. If used well, beautiful latte art and microfoam come easily from it.

Coffee shop dreams in your own kitchen!

I received the Bellman stovetop steamer as a present and it has just been a delight. As some background, I worked in a nice coffee shop that trained on latte art and I've missed it since moving on from that position. Well, now I can live out coffee shop fantasies in my own kitchen! Construction wise - this is solidly built. The steam wand does not move, so it takes some adjustment of yourself to get the correct angle for a vortex. It has two gasket pieces that form a steam chamber (with a solid top knob) and you can adjust the steam pressure with a small knob. I've posted a picture, which I think speaks for itself about what this little, simple piece of equipment can do if you work with it. I used an Aeropress to make an "espresso-style" coffee, a 12oz steam pitcher from Espresso Supply, and this Bellman Stovetop Steamer. The wife joked, "Well! This is more a present for me, eh?!" My main advice: really let the steamer heat up (it took probably 15m. on my electric stove). I was disappointed with my first two attempts; there seemed to be no pressure and I couldn't get the milk spinning or as warm as I wanted (I still dropped a lop-sided heart). About 5 minutes later, though, the 3rd attempt was golden out the gates. Lovely vortex, good microfoam, great texture. Also, watch your fingers (since the wand doesn't move), that steamer, expectedly, gets uber hot. Use towels to handle it and be sure to purge out the steam.

I used an aerolatte to make my latte's foam and although it makes a beautiful foam I never did manage to make latte art with it. Using the bellman you realize what micro foam is. I am far from a latte artist but I manage to make some rosetta like figures and my coffees taste great. I am amazed! With this easy to use machine you will improve your art and taste exponentially.

Excellent piece of equipment

This machine works very well. Reading around I had heard that it steams slower than a real espresso machine. Having never used a real espresso machine I cannot make that comparison but I find that it steams fast enough for me. Also this is heavy, which is a good thing. The steel is very thick which helps it retain heat and it doesn't move around while you are using it. This also means that it take a while to heat up. I use it on a glass top electric stove, so I fill it half way and put it medium to medium high before I hop in the shower, by the time I am out and dressed I can kick the stove up to high and it's ready to go. If you are going to only do milk for one drink then you can take it off the burner, if you are doing more than one drink I recommend leaving in on the burner (on high) while steaming. This will keep it nice and hot and recycle faster than if you take it off for each drink. I have had this for about a month and I think it's great, and cheaper than buying a real espresso machine.

Fantastic Product! Love it.

We bought this to make steamers and hot chocolate and could not be happier. It makes great steamed frothy milk without scalding. We've had them every day since we got it. Simple to use and much cheaper and easier than a full counter-top espresso machine. My one and only minor complaint is that the steam release valve is on the same handle you have to use to move it around. Just be careful and wear an oven mitt. You'll be fine. Well worth the cost however.

Barista approved

I work in an independent, third wave, coffee shop and am so pleased with this little guy. Sometimes when I'm at home I really just crave a nice little cappuccino- so the search began for a home steamer (don't waste your money on any espresso machine under $1000, they won't produce enough pressure to make a decent espresso anyways). For $75 I can satisfy my cravings and it's so fun to be able to make special drinks for guests. I poured rosettas and hearts right from the get go! Tip: I wipe down my wand with a cold rag before steaming, as it becomes very hot from the stove and scalds the milk if you don't.

Love this steamer

I bought this steamer about 6 months ago and it's quickly become a favorite in my coffee collection. It's indestructible and makes solid microfoam. It doesn't take too long to heat up if you pre-boil the water in a kettle. A gas stove isn't necessary but it speeds things up. It's great for lattes, but can also be used to make bomb hot chocolate. Just mix cocoa powder and sugar into the milk before you steam it.

Great steamer

Steamer is very easy to use. After a couple tries, the milk had a nice microfoam on it. Easy to assemble and disassemble.

Excellent Milk Steamer

I have know used the Bellman Stovetop Steamer several times and it works excellently. I would recommend putting much less water then instructed. Maybe fill it up only about 1/4 of the way or about 1.5-2 inches of water. This allows it to heat up much quicker and you still have plenty of steam for several lattes. Getting the proper milk consistency takes a little bit of a learning curve IMHO. I'm used to commercial machines, and steaming with this is a little different. You can still get excellent milk consistency for latte art.

does the job.

i give it an excellent because i think i does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well. me on the other hand...I will need to get a little more organized in the morning to allow for the extra time it takes to get the pressure built up.

Great design

I love this bellman steamer! It froths as good as an expensive espresso maker. You won't be disappointed . I've been looking for one of these for quit awhile ,happy to own one. Looks like it's sturdy ,should last for years....now I can enjoy a delicious cappuccino without spending hundreds of dollars on a espresso machine getting the same results.

Just what I've been looking for!

I've had hand held "frothers" and electric "frothers" but the first required I heat the milk on the stove or in the microwave and the second never got the milk hot enough. This little device is small, handsome, no nonsense and does a beautiful job of making authentic piping HOT steamed milk for either a latte or cappuccino. I haven't found cleaning it difficult and it makes plenty of steam with solid pressure. A fantastic product at a fair price, I just bought one for my mom. Bravo!

Best product for my stovetop espresso maker

If you are using stovetop expresso coffee maker, this product is just wonderful and money saving compared to the expresso machine. Normally I star heating the stove steamer and keep the valve of the steamer opened. When steam comes out, I close the valve for one minute in order to accumulate enough pressure for steaming the milk. Then enjoy the coffee!

A dying breed

There seems to be fewer stand alone stovetop milk steamers available which is unfortunate because unless you spend a thousand or more on an espresso machine, you will not get the necessary pressure to properly steam your milk. This purchase replaces a different brand that I never liked which was activated by a flimsy trigger that broke on me and the safety valve allowed too much steam to escape so things quickly fizzled out. This purchase is one of two classic Italian designs that you used to find in coffee retail stores all the time 20-30 years ago, the other style having more of a bee hive shape and three air holes in the nozzle which I would die to have. For some reason these classic steamers are extremely difficult to find these days and after a fair amount of searching I found myself lucky to find this online and at a decent price (I did not want the combo espresso maker/milk steamer). I've had this one month and so far it's been just great. It gives you nice strong, smooth and sustained steaming capability. It might take a couple of tries to get the technique down but your milk comes out beautifully creamy. The only thing is that this holds a surprisingly large amount of water. As a result it takes a long time for the pressure to build up so you need to make sure you get this on the burner right away. My main concern with this "Made in China" appliance is durability and longevity and that the replacement gaskets are easy to find. But as of today, I couldn't be happier.

Perfect companion to wandless espresso machines

I've been using the Bellman Stovetop Milk Steamer for the past few weeks, and it's been fun. I got it because my espresso machine doesn't have a steam wand, so this would work well for people with moka pots as well. It is simple to use and, equally importantly, to clean. Add water to the line inside, put it together like in the instructions, put it on heat and wait. It's going to be 10 minutes or more, so plan ahead! I've gotten my best, and quickest, results by waiting till it gets loud and steam starts coming out of the valve on the handle. I use a 20 oz (~591 ml) pitcher and always use a thermometer. Right when you're done steaming, be sure to use a wet cloth to get the dried milk off the steam wand, and then open up the valve again to get any milk out. Watch plenty of YouTube videos on steaming (there are even some specific to this device) and on pouring. Good luck!

Finally!

I JUST received this in the mail two yrs ago and now that we have a SNOW day, I don't have to go to work - sooooo - I had my first attempt at making a latte. I didn't blow up the kitchen or burn myself, so that's a step in the right direction. I have been wanting to buy one of these things for AGES - so when I saw it here at this website, I couldn't resist. Each time I plunk down $5 for a latte around here, I think GOSH -I'd really better invest in a milk steamer. The directions were simple and to the point. Everything worked as directed. It was my first time and I worried about splattering the milk everywhere, so went a little too deep with the nozzle, thereby making more frother than steamed milk I think. Can't wait to try it again.

Not fancy, works great!

I have plowed through so many big fancy (expensive) electric cappuccino makers, that all break down mechanically at some point, and now have gone back to the simplest mechanism possible for steaming milk.  This stovetop steamer takes a while to heat up (20-30 minutes) but is worth the wait.  The steam is powerful and doesn't spit a lot of water in the milk.  You can make some nice micro foam with just a little practice.  We make the espresso in a stove top mocha pot.

Great Foam but Slow to Boil - A Long Wait for Your Morning Beverage!

Spousal unit wanted this Bellman to replace our trusty Bialetti Graziella VAP 9 steamer, even though the VAP 9 was working fine, with only the gasket was getting a bit stiff. With a 1/4" of water, the VAP 9 was ready to steam in a couple minutes, right before the espresso pot went off, perfect timing! Just enough time to fuss with pouring the milk and getting out the cups. This unit seems to require at least 1/3 water fill to function, which means that it takes 15 minutes to steam up in the morning. Get out of bed, turn on the stove, wait and wait and wait, take a shower, wait some more, can't believe it takes this long, check the kitchen again, get back in bed, read the paper,THEN it finally boils and makes mass quantities of of sublime steamed milk with perfect tiny bubbles. If we hadn't worked with 3 previous stovetop steamers, I would think that this is fine. Also getting the Bellman to seal with the weird o-ring and gasket thing is very touchy and fussy and not reliable, therefore we tend to not disassemble and clean out daily.

Simple Steam Wand - Makes Micro-foam Easily

This is a little gem. It's simple and very effective. I was a Barista for 8 years, including at some specialty shops, and I really like this little guy. Steaming 8-12 oz. of cold milk takes about twice the time as a commercial espresso machine, which is as good as any home steam wand (probably better than most). It does make real micro-foam; after 5-6 tries I managed to pour a rosetta, then a tulip. It's actually easy to make too much micro-foam with this thing. You could easily steam milk for 4+ drinks at a time, so long as you give it 2 minutes or so between drinks to reheat. The downsides; it's small and takes some time to heat up. On my gas stove, it takes around roughly 20 minutes to heat from cold. I boil water in a kettle first to speed it up to about 10 minutes. Because of it's small diameter, I cannot put my stove's burner on high - the flames stretch out around the base and heat the handles. Also, its small size makes it a little unstable. It's tough to wipe off the wand without also shaking the whole thing around a bit, and you certainly need to use two hands. I did not want to drop several hundred dollars (or more) on a quality home espresso machine and new grinder. When combined with a makeshift espresso (there are lots of cheap ways to get something similar to espresso - strong, well brewed, low-volume), the Bellman Stovetop steamer gives me the specialty quality milk needed for macchiatos, cortados, cappuccinos and lattes with the attractive latte art.

Great Budget Option

My wife and I received a Rok espresso press for our wedding and were motivated to learn how to use it after breaking down how much $$ we were spending at coffee places around town. After much research we decided to invest in a top quality home grinder (Baratzza Vario) and start brewing at home. After some trial and error I was able to get really good espresso out of the press but the milk we were getting from the hand frothier left a lot to be desired. I was really stoked when I came across this product because it seemed like a great inexpensive solution to better milk for our lattes. It does take a little time to get acclimated with this steamer but once you get the hang of it it's possible to get great microfoam from it. Couple tips- make sure that you heat it to the point that steam is escaping through the safety valve for every cup and steam right away. If it has time to cool the results aren't great. Don't forget to purge the wand before first use- if you don't you will blast the milk with air and ruin the cup. Note that the steam wand has 2 holes at the end- some reviews mistakenly say it has one hole. Enjoy!

Got this unit and product was nicely packed... Used it for a few days now, and it DOES make a nice transformation of my espresso coffee to either Latte or Cappuccino.. Not sure how about extended use yet, whether product will continue to perform without defect.. Starting to notice steam escaping from the nozzle... HOPE it lasts me a lifetime... Liking it so far...........

Works but not convenient

The Steam out of the Bellman is dry and strong and you can produce micro-foam with it gut it tkaes on my gas stove 20 to 30 minutes before it is ready. I wait until the escape valve begins to release. I think a better system would be one that worked off of an induction cook top connected to a pressure sensor. Once the pressure sensor reached its correct reading it would cycle the induction cookout to maintain pressure

Classic lines and great functionality

I purchased this for our vacation cottage on an off grid island. Bottom line it delivers an excellent milk foaming experience and delivers a long enough flow to make easily four lattes. It creates a finer foam and more loft than my Rancilio Sylvia at home. The directions imply you should set it on a counter to steam but if indicts light enough to pick up and use hand held -- gives more control. Looks retro cool in the cabin kitchen too! Only negatives are the wand could be longer ... And you need to do all your foaming at once: it won't wait a few minutes between. All and all well recommended

A simple, but effective tool

I purchased this machine to steam milk for hot chocolate and to learn the process of steaming milk for the espresso machine I would eventually like to own. I am very much enjoying using this little guy. In essence, this it's a really fancy tea kettle. It even whistles like one, which tickled my sense of whimsey. Out of the box it is very straight forward, though I supplemented the instructions a with youtube/vemio tutorials. It takes a while to heat, right around 15 min because I'm using an electric stovetop. But that's not a big deal to me since I'll get it going first and then deal with whatever I'm making along with it. It does it's job once it's heated through and is very easy to use. I have two little complaints with it, which I think are likely just the nature of using a separate machine to steam milk rather than one attached to an espresso maker. The first is that in order to get enough steam at the intensity I want, I need to leave it on the heating element while I'm steaming. This can be worked around, but it leads to the second complaint, which is that the angle of the steaming wand is not adjustable. The combination of these two has lead to some interesting juggling of milk, steamer, and oven mitts. Overall though, I would recommend this product. It was a good way to start learning to steam milk and has become a welcome addition to my evening chocolate ritual.

Good alternative to expensive new machine.

Works great along side Silvia, as I can steam milk then quickly brew my shot and have a fresh latte. No more waiting on the steam or steaming than cooling off Silvia. For some reason, I got perfect microfoam the first time a used it but haven't been able to do it again, no matter how careful I am with the "steam gap" at the tip. Anyone have any suggestions? I use 2% milk. Also, it seems like sometimes the pressure release valve takes longer to open, with the same amount and starting temp. of water. You really have to keep an eye on this.

Overall not too shabby

I bought this so I could steam milk at home for espresso based drinks and it works pretty well! If you have any barista experience and are comfortable steaming on machines this will take a little while to get comfortable with. It steams alot slower and has less pressure so take that into account when steaming. Overall the product is great. It makes microfoam quite well. It is maybe a little pricey but coffee is an investment.

Decent Quality, Great if you don't have a steamer!

I have a portable espresso maker. Obviously this comes with no steamer attachment. I actually prefer this setup with the Bellman for home use. It takes far less time to preheat my handheld espresso maker (Portapresso) and do the milk on the stove top compared to a full-sized home machine. The build quality is good. Nothing seems too flimsy and the device has a good heavy weight to it. I've heard some people complain about the device getting too hot. You certainly need to be careful, but I haven't had issues thus far. Don't use absolute high heat! Medium-high is fine and it will take 10-12 minutes to build sufficient pressure. The Bellman seems a bit small on the stove top. That's why you have to be careful about high heat creeping up onto the pieces you'll be putting your hands on. Right before you begin steaming milk open the steam valve slightly to let a constant line of pressure out. Then begin steaming. The outwards pressure will keep the inside lines free of milk. Take care of the Bellman and it will take care of you!

Really like it!

I've had this stovetop steamer for a few weeks I like it. It takes a bit longer then expected to get up to boiling temp, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Steaming wond conducts heat so milk gets stuck on their so you have to scrub it off right away. But If you have no counter space or tiny kitchen it's a great space saver.(Reason why I bought it) I pair it with the Mypressi V2,and it's perfect!

Definitely a step up from my old stove-top steamer. Long, powerful steam; efficient steam head; produces hot, dense and rich foam for latte's etc. The only issue I have is that it takes a long time to heat up. I microwave the water ahead of time (5 min) and it still takes 10 - 15 minutes to steam.

Expensive, complicated, and takes forever

My first attempt failed, because (despite reading the instructions) I had the knob turned at the wrong time, and I couldn't figure out how to tell when it's ready. The second attempt, I waited for thirty loooooong minutes, and although there wasn't steam coming out of the hole that indicates it's ready, I started to use it anyway, and it made tons of delicious foaming milk. It made so much foam this time that it made a mess everywhere. Only a shallow-ish cup can be used if you want all the milk to get steamed, so the foam easily went over the top of my cup. Ah well, it was yummy in the end. Also, FYI, it only took 30 minutes because I have an electric stove. If you had a gas stove or induction cooktop, then I'd bet it would heat up quicker. I'll only recommend it to a friend if they're desperate for yummy chai lattes. It just takes way too freaking long to heat up. Plus, it has other frustrating features - it's complicated (you don't just turn on a button and put it on stove, no; you need to have this knob shut at this time, and watch this small hole to know when it's ready, and then use this spout with this knob turned, and then you need to clean it just so by turning different knobs, and ugh!) and it's EXPENSIVE!

Works OK, but slow and a little tedious

The Bellman has a simple and robust construction that would probably last forever. Fill the chamber with water, secure the lid, and heat it on a stove top until the over pressure valve releases steam, indicating maximum steam pressure in the chamber. Reaching max steam pressure takes about 15-20 minutes on my stove, even after having added boiling water to the chamber. I didn't have prior experience in texturing milk, but find the steaming to be a little slow, and I can't seem to get good micro foam. Milk will burn on the wand, so clean it right away. Enough steam for maybe two traditional cappuccinos. I bought the stove top steamer to pair with my Twist, so I could make milk based espresso drinks. After using it for some time I find it too much of a hassle to operate both the Twist and the Bellman for what results I obtain. Although the construction and idea are good, I am not recommending it due to the time it takes to use this in conjunction with e.g. the Twist, as many perhaps will consider.

Great microfoam

This is the best thing for creating micro foam for that perfect latte. The force of the steam that comes out of this nifty stovetop gadget is impressive—milk converts into a silky hot liquid in no time. Sure it takes a while to heat up (15 minutes), and the knob, handle, and wand are awkwardly placed. The quality of the result far outweighs my quibbles. When my Rancilio Silvia comes back from being repaired I just might stick with the Bellman for all my steaming.
