If you're accustomed to a fully automated experience and find the idea of a fully manual espresso machine a bit overwhelming, the Barista Touch Impress serves as the perfect bridge, offering fine-tuned control over the drink-making process without leaving your head spinning. Moreover, equipped with an integrated grinder featuring Baratza M2 cone burrs, the Barista Touch Impress is an all-in-one package, saving space and eliminating the need for a standalone espresso grinder.
At the heart of the Barista Touch Impress's user interface is a large touchscreen, providing quick access to numerous presets, including Flat White, Latte, Cappuccino, Espresso, Long Black, Babyccino, Hot Chocolate, and Tea. For those who prefer crafting their own drinks, there's room to save up to 8 customized beverages tailored to your preferences for espresso extraction, hot water or milk temperature, and texture.
Intelligent Dosing and Tamping
New to the Barista Touch Impress is an intelligent volumetric dosing system and lever-operated tamper that ensures a perfectly flat tamp, and that the right amount of coffee is ground each time. During the brewing process, the Impress collects data and provides prompts to the user, assisting in finding the ideal dose volume and grind size while ensuring proper back pressure for optimal extraction. If your shot is too fast or too slow, the system recommends specific changes to grind size and adjusts grind time accordingly to maintain an appropriate dose volume for the basket in use. These new features significantly streamline the process of dialing in espresso by automating the most challenging variables.
Hands-Free Milk Steaming
Learning to manually steam milk with the perfect texture and temperature is an art form on its own, further steepening the learning curve required for fully manual espresso machines. The Barista Touch Impress automates this entire process, creating perfect micro-foam for a silky-smooth texture and even latte art. Using the integrated touch screen, users can select preferences for milk aeration and temperature, offering anything from heavy foam to a smooth micro-foam texture with the touch of a button. The Impress now features three new alternative milk programs for almond, oat, and soy milks, which calibrate air injection time and temperature specific to the type of milk chosen.
Breville’s proprietary Thermojet water heating system prepares the Barista Touch Impress for either espresso brewing or milk steaming in only 3 seconds after startup by heating the smallest volume of water necessary to perform the intended action. This not only makes the transitions from startup to brewing to steaming lightning-fast but also saves significant energy compared to boiler-based espresso machines that require 20-40 minutes of warm-up time and maintain boiler temperature indefinitely when not in use.
