It's become a staple in the specialty coffee industry and the go-to gadget for pros and hobbyists alike. Hario's Buono has made its mark and it won't be displaced anytime soon. In recent years the hype about this kettle reached a record high, with promises of an electric version entering the U.S. market. Regrettably, Hario was unable to obtain the required certifications to sell to stateside coffee-folk...

...until now. The electric Buono is here, shining from our shelves and ready to ship. Like its stovetop sibling, it sports a slim gooseneck spout for optimal control and slow-mo flow. Its beautiful, beehive-shaped body is crafted with stainless steel for unrivaled strength and insulation. With a cordless design, auto-off feature, and quick-heating element (boils 0.8 liters in 5-6 minutes!), the electric Buono permits an even simpler pour-over.

  • 0.8-liter capacity
  • Auto-off
  • Boil-dry protection
  • 360-degree cordless design
  • Cord storage in base
  • AC 120V / 60 Hz / 1000W

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed yuppie After being an unemployed hipster for several months and fawning over the Hario kettles while I lazed around in coffee shops, I finally got a job and became a yuppie so I could afford this kettle. I was REALLY excited about it, but I have to say, I'm surprised by it's low quality. The heating element looks like it was just soldered on as an after-thought, the kettle gets wicked hot while the water is boiling, and it takes MUCH longer to heat up than my old $19.99 kettle from targt. Otherwise, it's really cool/beautiful/elegent etc, but I'm sad to admit that it really just isn't a top-quality product for the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Questionable Product I bought the Hario Electric .8 L from Prima Coffee, mistakenly believing they had a good return policy. I should have done a little more reading before I placed the order, because (1)the reviewers stating that it has a plasticky, chemical smell even after boiling water thru it are correct; and (2) does NOT actually have a good return policy. I ran water thru it at least 5 times, and i tried a splash of vinegar in there once too, with the water. Very chemically smell remains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It was coffee bloom over the pour over We went with a coarse French Press grind and as you can see from the video, the Hario provided the perfect pour over solution. Four thousand years of humans grinding beans with a grinding stone then pouring hot water over the grounds; from a pouring vessel used by Cleopatra and Nefertiti to the Hario V60 Buono electric. The perfect compliment to the edoCup disposable filter, please though do "bring on" [sic] the commercial version!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faster better and doesn't leak if accidentlyovrr filled So this kettle was given to me as a gift over a year and a half ago. It has yet to let me down.i use it maybe 3 times day or more for coffee, oatmeal and even cup o noodles. No chemical taste ever. Well first 3 kettles... I bought a competitor brands kettle for work. But have used them side by side many times. The hario heats faster! The newer kettle I bought leaks if I over fill by accident ,which I have, and it hurt. So I find this to be the better electric pour over kettle and looks less portly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adorable and functional! I wanted a fairly small kettle to keep on my desk at work, and this fits the bill nicely. It's cute, easy to fill, and fast to heat. You know it's hot when you hear the water softly boiling and the lever click off - there is no ding or buzz or special light. And, I haven't spilled any water pouring out of the pleasing and effective gooseneck spout.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful design and quiet Love the design and how quiet and fast it is--it's pricier than other electric kettles, but well worth it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad tasting This kettle has a bad smell, if you're sensitive to the coffee taste then you won't end up using it. I tried cooking it up with vinegar and I've been using it for a week and this bitter ( probably electronic) taste won't go away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast cook This is extremely fast and convenient. At first I had a problem with the smell, I was very disappointed, but after two weeks it all fine and its fantastic

Is it better to leave water in the kettle when not in use? Or make empty/dry out in between uses?

Asked by: Hugh
It shouldn't make a difference. There are holes in the lid, though, so I imagine some level of dust makes its way in there. I always leave mine dry and rinse prior to use.
