Why do we love the Sculptor 078 and 078S so much? Never before has true commercial quality been available in such a compact and affordable package. Sculptor’s clean, simple workflow is perfect for those who enjoy a slow and precise brewing routine. Its vertically mounted burr set, short hopper, and highly effective rotary knocker offer extremely low grounds retention, allowing users to switch between different coffees and grind sizes with ease, yielding almost exactly what they put in each time. As a single-dose grinder, it requires coffee beans to be weighed out on a scale prior to grinding. There are no grind-by-time or grind-by-weight functionalities in the Sculptor—just a simple on/off switch.
Clean As A Whistle
One of our favorite innovations in the Sculptor is its unique rotary knocker for clearing grounds from the chute after a grind cycle. Traditional knockers often hammer the outside of the chute, sometimes sending grounds flying (or not working at all!). Timemore’s design provides satisfying tactile feedback while effectively removing grounds from the chute without making a mess. Simply turn the rotary knocker 2-3 times after a grind cycle to expel any remaining grounds, and you're done! Combined with its vertically mounted burr set, this innovation allows the Sculptor to retain only a few tenths of a gram of coffee or less.
Proprietary 78mm Burrs
Few grinder manufacturers step into the deep waters of burr design and manufacturing but Timemore has developed a strong reputation for creating unique and effective designs. The 078S features Timemore’s 78mm 'Flat Burrs', specially designed for espresso grinding or medium-bodied filter coffee. Meanwhile, the 078 grinder is equipped with a hybrid ghost-tooth set known as 'Turbo burrs,' which produce incredibly few fines and a high-clarity cup, perfect for filter coffee. Keep in mind the Turbo burrs cannot grind for espresso! For espresso and multi-purpose use, the 078S is your huckleberry. For ultra-clean pour overs, the 078 is a perfect choice.
