Urnex Cafiza Tablets

Perfect size for backflush cycle

Hey there. It's Ragan from Prima Coffee, and today, we are checking out the Urnex Cafiza Espresso Machine Tablets. These tablets are a great addition to a home espresso setup because they come with 32, which isn't really enough to work in a commercial setting. They come in blister packs, and each box has three blister packs that have eight tablets in each packet. And each tablet is 2 grams, which makes it a great size for the backflush cycle. The purpose of these tablets is to eliminate any coffee oils or residue that have built up in the group head, the valves, and the waterways and may infiltrate your coffee with a nasty, bitter, or stale taste. When using these with a fully automatic machine, make sure to follow the instructions in the manufacturer's manual because it varies based on machine. When using it with a semiautomatic machine, make sure to backflush each group head. We're going to be using it on the Rancilio Silvia today, so we only have one group head. First, begin by inserting a blind basket into your portafilter. You will want to put one tablet in, and then we will reinsert the portafilter. So we're going to run the brew cycle for 10 seconds, and then, you're going to let it sit for 10 seconds. Once that's happened, you're going to repeat that five more times. After you have run the cycle five times, you're going to want to remove the portafilter, pour out any of the excess water you see in there, and then, you're going to just run it without the portafilter in there. Great. Then, we are going to reattach the portafilter and repeat step two five more times. So once you've done that, you'll want to pull another shot of espresso and discard it, but after that, you should be good to go. You can also use Cafiza Tablets to clean parts and cloth filters. All you need to do is use 1 Cafiza Tablet for every 16 ounces of hot water. Put your parts in there, let them soak for 30 minutes, discard the Cafiza water, and give them one more good rinse with hot water, and they'll be ready as well. We do want to note that backflushing only works with machines that have a three-way solenoid valve. So if you're unsure about your machine, make sure to consult your manufacturer manual, or just reach out to the manufacturer to double-check.
