Hey, I'm Steve with Prima Coffee and today we're going to take a look at this Bottomless Portafilter from Nuova Simonelli. So this is a 58-millimeter bottomless portafilter. It is going to fit most of your Nuova Simonelli espresso machines and also your Victoria Arduino espresso machines. It has those offset wings here on the side so it's not going to fit other machines of the same size. What we have here is the Eagle One Prima. It is the 1 Group Espresso Machine that was just released by Nuova Simonelli, and it comes with this double-spouted portafilter and also a single-spouted portafilter that have leather handles, but if you do want a bottomless portafilter, this one here will go ahead and fit that. It comes with an 18-gram Nuova Simonelli basket in here. We find that you can fit up to 20 grams, but 18 grams is what this is built for. The advantage to having a bottomless portafilter is that you can see the extraction. So if there is a problem such as channeling, you will be able to see it. This is also a really a useful tool for training purposes. The handle here has a silicon band to help you with the grip when you're putting it into the expresso machine, given that the rest of it here is a smooth plastic.
