Video Overview | Mazzer Major Electronic Flat Burr Espresso Grinder
Hey, there. I'm Steve with Prima Coffee Equipment, and today we're talking about the Mazzer Major. This is probably one of the most recognized industry standard grinders for espresso out there. A real beastly grinder, it does a lot of great, consistent grinding.Mazzer Major Electronic Flat Burr Espresso Grinder
It can do about 4 grams a second, get a 20 gram dose in 5, maybe even less. But a really well-recognized grinder. We've got a 4-pound hopper. There's 83 mm, flat, steel burrs with step-less adjustment, so all you have to do is just tweak the wheel left to the right, go finer or coarser, really easy to set up.
And we also have electronic dosing. So this is time-based dosing with a dosing funnel that'll go right into your porta filter down here, so you can set it up on the forks, dose directly into your basket. You can program in settings for either single or double doses.
Go into the menu by just holding the Menu button down, select your single or your double, and then you can change the time increment in 20th's of a second, so 0.05 each time you go up or down. To lock in your setting, you hold the Menu button down again. And you can also dose manually, by using the manual button. Just to pulse a few grams out, or dial in your espresso the first thing in the morning.
Now with a machine this size, you're probably looking at more of a mid-to-high-volume cafe as your main espresso grinder. While it's able to put out quite a bit of espresso every time you grind, it also holds on to quite a bit, sometimes 6, maybe even 7 grams in between grinding sessions. So if you're not using it constantly, you're going to want to purge it in between grinding. But all the same, it's a real great performer.
It's nice, and big, and bulky. It's 25-inches tall. It's got 44 pounds of weight to it. Real big, real reliable grinder. There's a reason you see it in quite a few cafes. So that's the Mazzer Major E. Thanks for watching.
