Mazzer Major Espresso Grinder and Doser: Ready to pull you through the long hull, the Mazzer Major grinds espresso at the rate needed for a medium-sized cafe to stay in action and in the game. The dosing chamber makes the process that much faster during busy times, as you can just grind a large amount and then disperse accordingly.

Transcript

Hey, I'm Steve at Prima Coffee Equipment, and today I'm going to talk to you about the Mazzer Major Espresso Grinder. Now this is the doser version, so you'll notice a large dosing container on the front of it. Real great grinder, perfect for getting into higher volume cafes.

Mazzer Major Espresso Grinder and Doser

Flat Steel Grinding Burrs: 83mm, Coffee-bean hopper capacity: 4 lbs, Adjustable doser: 5.5g-8g

Featured Product

It's got a great big, 83 mm, flat, steel burrs that spin up to 1,400 revolutions per minute. So you're talking about four - or a little bit more - grams per second. You can grind a 20 gram dose in just under 5 seconds. Stepless adjustment, just like all Mazzers, so you can just twist the collar left and right to go finer and coarser.

Now this model actually has a timer switch, so you can set it to grinder for 4 or 5, 10 seconds. Or just kind of pulse it on and off as you need it. The dosing container holds about 200, 300 grams, and it has an adjustable dosing vein, so if you want put out 7 grams per pull, you can set it to that. You can set it up to, I think, 10 grams. So obviously it can dose right into a porta filter. It's a pretty beefy grinder. It stands just taller than the Super Jolly at 25-inches tall, weighs about 44 pounds.

Its footprint is somewhat similar to the Super Jolly, a little bit bigger, but pretty good for a medium to larger size cafe, talking about maybe 60-100 espresso grinds a day, or even more. In terms of grind retention, it'll hold around 6 to 6.5 grams of coffee in between each dose, so you do want to purge if you're letting the grinder sit for more than a couple of minutes. Granted, that's somewhat of a quarter to a third of an espresso dose, but it's a large grinder.

It's made for higher output, rather than real optimum grind retention. So that's the Mazzer Major Doser Edition Thanks for watching.
