Baratza Encore ESP Adjustment Dial

Familiar Form, New Capabilities

The Encore is certainly the most well-known grinder in Baratza’s lineup, and is possibly one of the most recognizable home coffee grinders on the market. Now, the Encore platform has been divided into two categories: the ever-popular Encore classic and the newly-released Encore ESP. Featuring a similar form factor and user experience to the original Encore, Baratza has designed the ESP specifically for the home espresso market with a little extra functionality and hardware for multi-purpose grinding. Resting in an incredibly budget-friendly price range, the Baratza Encore ESP is a perfect choice for blossoming home baristas.

A Unique Adjustment System

The Baratza Encore ESP features a ramped, stepped adjustment system that offers an espresso-capable grind in the first 20 settings. Each click of the grinder’s adjustment mechanism is equal to a change of only 20 microns, allowing for a simple dial-in process. Once you’ve passed the 20th click, each adjustment will amount to a slightly larger shift of 90 microns for applications that require coarser grounds. While the Baratza Encore ESP is geared for home espresso, it is also capable of grinding for a wide array of coffee brewing applications from pour-over brewing, to French press brewing, all the way up to cold brew.

A Look Inside

Those who are already familiar with the original Encore will recognize the ESP right away, but Baratza has added a bit more in terms of user-friendliness and utility to the ESP, making it an all-around easier grinder to service. The 40mm, M2 conical burr set is powered by a high torque motor that spins at only 550 RPMs, aiding in temperature fluctuations affecting your particle size and minizing static. The Encore ESP also features a quick-release system for the burrs, making removing the burr for cleaning simple and painless.
