    Highlighted Features Standard Features

    Programmable dosing controls

Mahlkonig's K30 Vario allows the barista to program grind time for both a single and a double shot to the tenth of a second. The electronic control panel also keeps record of daily and lifetime use.

Mahlkonig K30 Vario Espresso Grinder: Competition Standard is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade from the Baratza Vario The grind is very consistent. And it's super fast and quiet! 20 grams of coffee takes just 4 seconds. And who says you can not do a single dosing on it due to the retention of the coffee. I tried putting 20 grams and used manual, it came out 19.9 (it takes slightly longer time but eventually almost everything I put in came out). Of course I will still use for more than single dosing but good to know that it's an option. I tried a few comparison from my Bararza Vario. The difference is huge. Same bean tasted clearly better. Makes me realize that a grinder makes more difference than an espresso machine, just like a lens makes more difference than a camera. A happy upgrade to me! The only con maybe the size though. Be prepare to reserve a big space for it if you are getting one. It's even bigger than it looks in the picture. But it's good to know I'm getting a very solid machine that could last a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I want to rate it 5 stars, but... The grinder, itself, and Prima's service deserve 5 stars. But I'm disappointed that the only hopper option is the full-size, tall hopper. I understand that most buyers are probably commercial shops and need the tall hopper but as Mahlkonig and distributors market it more and more to home users, making the short hopper available as a replacement at no additional cost (currently its a $100+ add) makes more sense to me. I already spent $1,700 and don't feel I should have to spend more to get the small hopper and throw away the tall one. But, again, the grinder is excellent. The setup was super simple and the upgrade from my previous Baratza Preciso is definitely a very noticeable change in extraction quality. And its super quiet and super quick. Prima provides excellent service and response. The shopping experience was great!

What fine-coarse 1-10 setting is recommended for different drinks? I'm having trouble finding this info. Youtube & forums show ppl use a 1-3 range or they have difficulty achieving a variation. is there a chart like 2-espresso, 3-coffee? is 10 used?

    Asked by: Ryan123
The k30 is strictly an espresso grinder. Even at the setting of 10 it's far off from a drip or even a fine v60 setting. I find most of my espresso is between the 1 range for very light roast and 7 for dark roast. Usually somewhere right in the middle. It all depends on the bean, the roast, and it's density. If you're looking for a grinder that does drip and espresso you'll have to use something like the baratza vario. The adjustment on the k30 and its burrs are meant for espresso. Hope this helps!

I see that a short hopper option is available now as well. Do you guys carry that option?

    Asked by: dkhaskins
At the moment the short hopper is being recalled and redesigned due to a manufacturing flaw. We're not quite sure when we'll see more in stock.
