Siphon Brewing Guide

Jan 4th 2023 Written by Ragan LaTour-Kelley

Despite resembling something you might find in the chemistry lab, the Siphon coffee brewer does not require a lab coat, nor is it as complicated as it looks. The Siphon yields an impressively clean cup of coffee that's bursting with flavor and never fails to provoke conversation or impress when brewing for others!

Enjoy our brew guide equipped with a full recipe, necessary equipment, and step-by-step instructions to help you get started brewing with your Siphon!

Recipe:

  • Coffee dose: 25g
  • Water Weight: 375g
  • Grind Size: Medium-Coarse
  • Water Temp: 210F

Begin heating your water and insert the filter into the upper brewing chamber of the siphon. Pull down and make sure it hooks to the lip of the tube.

Step 1

Pour 375 ml of hot water into the bottom brewing chamber.

Step 2

Place the siphon on the burner and insert the top brewing chamber into the bottom.

Step 3

As the siphon begins to heat, you’ll see the water rise into the upper brewing chamber. Once the bottom chamber is nearly empty, pour your 25 grams of coffee into the top chamber and stir, ensuring the grounds are saturated.

Step 4

Start a timer and wait 1:30 min.

At 1:30, turn off the heating element, give the grounds another stir and remove the Siphon from the heating element.

Step 5

Blow on the bottom brewing chamber to cool it and initiate the drawdown.

Step 6

Brew should finish around 2:30 minutes. Remove the top chamber, serve, and enjoy!
