Outfitted For Single-Dosing
Developed in collaboration between Prima and SWORKSDESIGN, the 807 Lab Sweet ESP is a single-dose espresso grinder developed for home enthusiasts and cafes seeking to add this legendary 80mm burr platform to the espresso bar. Substituted for the Lab Sweet’s standard 1.1lb hopper, folding platform and large steel grounds catch is an ultra low-profile plate-style single-dose hopper with a bellows and magnetic lid, and an adjustable spring-loaded portafilter fork. Machined from heavy-duty anodized aluminum, the single dose hopper includes a seal gasket on the underside which directs airflow from the bellows straight through the chute, helping to mitigate grounds retention and reducing output variance to only +/- 0.3g.
A True Multi-Purpose Grinder
Thanks to the creative design of the spring-loaded portafilter fork and a stepless grind adjustment with a range of 100µm up to 1.200µm, the 807 Lab Sweet ESP is equally capable of grinding for single-dose pour over, coarse cold brew, or even Turkish coffee. Paired with Acaia’s 58mm steel dosing cup (sold separately), the spring-loaded portafilter fork can be set in a single position to accommodate a 58mm portafilter and the dosing cup, allowing full single-dosing versatility without adjusting anything but grind size. Looking for a grinder optimized for cupping and bag grinding? You may want to consider the 807 Lab Sweet Retail.
The Wonders Of 80mm Burrs
Unlike standard machined tool steel burrs found in almost every other grinder, the 807 Lab Sweet ESP’s burrs begin their life as a liquid poured into a cast, creating a uniquely rough texture that, in combination with it’s unique geometrical cutting surfaces, contributes to an iconic flavor profile full of body and distinct sweetness. Cast Lab Sweet burrs produce excellent results for filter coffee, but sometimes aren't ideal for espresso. If using the Lab Sweet ESP for espresso, we recommend the Special Steel burr set, which is the same burr that ships with the Mahlkonig E80 Supreme. For a high clarity filter or espresso, we highly recommend the standard 807 burr.
“It's a fantastic experience; it's the gold standard for us to compare with all other grinders we use. Handy and easy to use. Also, a lot of guests are interested because of the modern appearance. Convenient to use in any place , even in pop ups.”
—Ethica Coffee Roasters
“So how does the coffee taste? The proof is in the pudding: in 14 years, we’ve had 13 finalists and 8 winning coffees in the Good Food Awards, making us one of the most award-winning roasters in the country. Separately, we’re honored to have received Food & Wine Magazine’s “Best Coffee in Oregon” award in 2018 and 2022. We couldn’t accomplish this without the assistance from coffee industry titans like Ditting, Probat, Baratza, Fetco, Mazzer, and La Marzocco.”
—Noble Coffee Roasters
"It’s been a real treat - the speed, the consistency of grind, and the adjustability. I hope to get this as our in office grinder and use as our baseline grinder suggestion to our new cafe accounts moving forward. A/B testing of n our Curtis brewer with this vs an Encore was eye opening. I love my encore for home use but this sweet lab really puts it in its place."
