The siphon is a time-tested brewer that blends theatricality with unparalleled quality. Two glass chambers are suspended on a tabletop stand, filled with water, and heated by an open flame. The expansion of hot air in the lower chamber forces water upwards and keeps it "floating" above. Coffee is then added to the top chamber, where it’s steeped in hot water for a relatively short amount of time until it’s filtered on the way down. When the flame is extinguished, the cooling air in the lower chamber allows the coffee to fall below. Complete immersion of the grounds results in a complex and intensely flavorful cup, while the cloth filter keeps it smooth and free from undesirable sediment.

  • Includes upper and lower brewing chambers, lid, stand, alcohol burner, spoon/stirrer, cloth filter, and filter holder
  • 5-cup / 600 ml.
  • Extra cloth filters available for purchase
  • Compatible with Yama Butane Burner
  • Made in Japan

Originally known primarily as a company that produces glass products, Hario (also known as Hario Glass) has been working to produce high quality coffee and tea products since 1921. Over the past few years, Hario has become known as the coffee industry leader in pour over brewing equipment. Hario has helped bring about a coffee renaissance in the U.S. by creating ingeniously designed coffee brewing and grinding products that are being used by cafes and home coffee connoisseurs alike for by-the-cup coffee brewing. The design and methods behind Hario's brewing devices have helped to insure that specialty coffee is being brewed with the craft that it deserves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coffee maker I bought the Hario tabletop coffee siphon a couple of weeks ago for my husband's birthday. It's actually not too complicated to use and it's quite the conversation piece! I called Prima Coffee's customer service prior to purchasing and the rep was so helpful and knowledgable of the product.

Can you find me a replacement top glass for the TCA-5 Hario siphon?

Asked by: Nate
We sincerely wish, and it's a problem we're working with Hario on. We can only recommend using a Yama top, which is at least functional.

I have two questions. First, can the plastic spoon that came along with my Hario Coffee Syphon help me measure the 10 g of coffee that is suitable for one cup? Secondly: How should I grind the coffee? Like regular brew-coffee or ... ? Thanks for a reply

Asked by: Danny54
Hi, Danny. It's best to measure your coffee by weight rather than by volume for accuracy and consistency. We'd recommend purchasing a good scale that measures in small increments like the Hario Drip Scale or the Jennings CJ4000. You'l want to grind your coffee extremely fine - just shy of an espresso grind. Your total brew time, including the draw-down, should be between 1:30-1:45.

Hi, Corey We've searched the Hario product list high and low and have not been able to find this replacement piece. We're going to send an email to the importer and see what we can find out!
