Don't call it a french press - this is something completely new. Consider it a hybrid of immersion and percolation brewing, which is both super easy to use and clean - that's the American Press way.

The American Press uses an internal brew basket to hold your coffee, with two micro-fine steel filters (and the option to use a paper filter) to keep those grounds out of your brew. Rather than steeping coarse, pebbly coffee for five minutes like a french press, you can instead grind finer and steadily press the grounds through the water for a quick 2-minute brew. That's perfect for brewing at home, on the road, in your office, or even out camping. Cleanup is easy, as all your grounds are still in the basket when you're done, so you only need to tap them out and give the press a rinse. The 12 oz capacity is perfect for 1-2 cups, and the thick sidewalls make for great heat retention if you like to linger over your brews. It's great for loose leaf teas too!

The American Press is made of BPA free plastic, stainless steel, and rubber. We recommend hand washing the parts with mild detergent and a soft cloth, but it is top rack dishwasher safe.

My new favorite brew

I really enjoy the coffee this product makes. It gives the coffee well rounded body, but still has the espresso taste that french press can't give. I still enjoy my french press, but for travel or a more day-to-day coffee, this is perfect.

I love my American Press!

I love my American Press!! This is my second one. I purchased one when they were first released last year. I have been taking my original one with me when I travel to visit family who inexplicably don't drink coffee and wanted one to keep there and another to keep at home. It is sleek and beautiful, feels great in your hand, and the double walled carafe keeps coffee nice and hot. Even examining the packaging is an inviting experience. One side of the package shows simple directions which are really guidelines since you can adjust the amount of water or coffee grounds you use, how long you pre-infuse, as well as how fast or slowly you press based on your tastes. All of these variables affect your final cup of coffee allowing you to experiment until you find the “recipe” that suits you. It is an engaging and fun way to start the day! My American Press is very easy to use, makes great coffee as well as tea, and clean up is a snap. I always press a bit to wet the grounds (pre-infuse), let it rest for about a minute, then press, generally just resting my hand on the handle and allowing the weight of my hand to do the pressing. If this is not fast enough, I add a little pressure. As the water is pushed through the pod, coffee appears above the the pod. I never get tired of watching the hot water in the carafe turn into coffee as I press! The result is a great cup of coffee every time. Clean up is super easy too. I unsnap the pod, shake the grounds into the trash, quickly wash everything in soapy water, and am ready to go again. There can be a bit of a learning curve with the coffee used because, if it is really fine, it can make it too hard to press but, if you follow the directions that are on the box as well as online, you will have no troubles.

American Press

As a coffee press it is excellent but I have become so much of a pore-over fan that I miss the nice clean taste of a pore-over. First I tried the American press with a ground coffee brand that has many sizes of coffee particles in it including some very fine powder which created mud. I then tried a paper filter but it immediately gums up from the fine particles making pressing almost impossible. Grocery store brand coffees work much better but not as clean tasting as a pore-over. If I had a grinder to have medium course grind, I imagine the American press would be great. Even with what I have it is far superior to any press I have ever used. I have returned to my beloved Bee House.

Works but terribly overpriced

Although this device works, it simply is not worth the price. Is the cup cleaner than that obtained with a traditional press? Yes, but not so much so that the purchase is worthwhile. IMO a much more affordable traditional press will serve you every bit as well and leave you with money in your pocket.

So I am an 8 year Veteran of the U.S Army. I drink a lot of coffee. I bought the American press one day after doing days of research on differant presses. I like the American press not only because its AMERICAN haha, but because of the individual behind the American Press. I have had a few issues, nothing major. But i was contacted directly and issue teken care of the same day, or very next day. As for the product. The coffee comes out amazing, tastes so good if you follow the instructions. But then again i am used to drinking that muddy water the military calls coffee. PROs: Best service i have ever had in my life if something is wrong, simple to use, easy to clean, makes some of the best coffee I've had (especially if you use Black Riflfe Coffee Company coffee), looks good, feels good in your hand, and easy to store. CONs: Can't honestly think of any. I love this Press.
