Details

When an engineer with years of experience with commercial espresso machines decides to design something for the home market, you get a machine like the Crossland CC1. A standout among home espresso machines, the CC1 (version 1.5) manages to pack a full suite of high-end features into a compact and easy to use package. Like other machines in its price range, it features a commercial-sized 58mm group and portafilter, a three-way solenoid valve to relieve basket pressure, an overpressure valve to regulate brew pressure, and a fairly large 500 mL stainless steel boiler.

Where it stands apart from its contemporaries are its integrated electronics, which add a great degree of control and usability. The user can program and store three unique profiles, with settings for brew temperature, pre-infusion, brew time, and even the PID settings and temperature offset. Those profiles can then be used to automatically brew perfect shots, or can even be left alone to run the machine semi-automatically.

The CC1 also breaks from the norm by utilizing a unique steaming system. Rather than go the Single Boiler Dual Use route, the CC1 features a dedicated thermoblock for steam. This means that the brew boiler is always set to a brew temperature, and simply pumps hot water into the steam block to flash to steam. This allows the user to pull shots and steam, then move on to the next shot without needing to wait for the brew boiler to cool. A large 2 liter reservoir ensures that extended shot-pulling sessions go unimpeded, and a roomy 1 liter drip tray can handle plenty of drips, purges, and dialing in.

Makes Espresso more of a predictable science.

This machine is great. The PID and built in timer settings makes dialing in consistent shots way easier. There’s no heat exchanger, but the thermoblock is ready to go in about 10-15 seconds after selecting “Steam.” Highly recommend for a beginner who needs more consistent variables in the espresso process.

Excellent machine, exclellent service

I've had my eye on the CC1 for years but when my old machine finally died I decided to pull the trigger. Naturally most outlets were out of stock, but I came across Prima Coffee advertising availability and was pleasantly surprised at the flawless experience. The first machine shipped had a small manufacturing problem but Prima diagnosed it over the phone and replaced the machine immediately -- I could not have been happier. The machine is more complex than my previous one. Programming is simple, but dialing in the temperature, grind, tamp, and time to achieve the perfect shot has taken more trial and error than I anticipated. This would likely be the case with any machine, and after a couple weeks the end result is well worth it.

"Small machine but BIG on features"

This is hands down the simplest programmable pre-infusion machine we have ever used at Bell Lap Coffee. Just like it says "Small machine but BIG on features" It only took a handful of shots to get our flavors dialed in paired with a Baratza 270W grinder. The best part is having the 58mm portafilter that we can use our custom velo tamper on!

Good Equipment and Good Customer Service

There was a hiccup on the arrival of our Crossland CC1, which delayed our use...but the team at Prima bounced back well and the espresso machine is handling business now. Thanks.

It's been a month and it's been good!

This is my very first at home espresso machine, so I can't really compare this to anything. However, as my first machine, this is great. Right now, it's paired with a Baratza Encore. It's not the best combo, but I was able to dial into something pretty good. Better than my local coffee shop. The steam wand is a bit finicky, but I think I just need to wait a bit longer than when it says it's ready. But, it's no deal breaker by any means. For this price, I can't complain and very happy with it!
